Uranium glaze, not glass, obviously. We have named him Grommet.

UG + MG blind buy 🤩

I picked up this kind of odd-looking vase on eBay for AU$6 because I thought the leaf had Stephen Williams antique vase vibes. I think I was right, and she glows beautifully!! Uranium for the leaf and stem, manganese for the milkish parts. So pretty!!

Room light, 365, 365, 395 in the photos.

Can anyone help me ID this EAPG (?) pattern pls?

Found these gorgeous twins in the op shop yesterday (and they glow!). Can anyone help me ID the pattern? They are pressed, three panels, no pontils. I have been poking around opal glass dresser sets and some are very close, but no cigar. Any ideas or leads very much welcome. Thanks! ☺

I found this machine lace collar and it's just so pretty 🥰

Hi! I'm a long term doily collector (i blame my gran) who is just learning about all the intricacies of lace.

I got this collar yesterday in an op shop (thrift shop) mixed lace and doily bag. It's so pretty and detailed, and looks like it's never been worn.

My tiny bit of textile knowledge tells me the embroidery thread is a mix of silk and cotton, and my tiny bit of fashion knowledge tells me it's a Bertha collar (?).

If anyone has any extra knowledge about this piece, please send it my way, I love to learn. But I mostly just wanted to share this piece because I'm blown away by how gorgeous it is 🥰.

Almost didn't shine my torch on these

I saw one of these on the shelf at the op shop (thrift shop) today and almost passed over it. So glad I did not, it lit up bright green!

I found the other one a few shelves over. I paid AU$6 for both of them 🥰.

I just bought a combination torch and I'm so glad I did, I probably would have missed these if I was using just a 395. I think the white glass reflects the light a lot with the 395? It was difficult to see the green glow until I was in a dark room. I've confirmed the UG with my Geiger (background 15 CPM, 32 CPM on the glass).

Can anyone help me ID these, or even what I should call them- are they custard, opal or milk glass? They are pressed, with three seams and no pontil, and the colour on the bows and roses is hand painted onto the mold. I've done some searching and I think they are maybe American pressed glass, but I can't find this pattern.

First pic is normal light, second is 365, third is 395 inside the glass and the fourth is 395 inside the glass.

Sharing with the class

As requested, here's my gorgeous new pink glass set under UV.

Just when you think things can't get any prettier, you shine a UV torch at them and tada! 🥰

I was gifted this beautiful pink glass dressing table set and I am in love 🥰

Had to share this with someone! One of my mum's friends gave me this set- she'd been looking for someone to pass it on to. I nearly died when I saw it, it's so pretty. And not a chip or crack to be found.

Two vases, two candlesticks, a trinket box, and two scent (?) bottles. I think it's Czech glass, maybe? It seems to be pressed, but the scent bottle toppers are ground, and the feet on everything are ground smooth. The fans on top of the scent bottles are my fave, they are so beautiful. The whole set makes me happy every time I look at it ☺.

Cute little glowing blue button

This little blue frosted button came in a $5 button jar from an op shop (Australian for thrift shop). I grabbed the jar because I could see a glowy Vaseline glass button in there, and then found this cutie buried in the middle, as well as some pearly milk glass UG buttons.

First photo is daylight. Second is 365. Third is 395, and fourth is on top of the 395. It's much more blue than green with the 395 irl, but my phone camera picks up the green. I've also got a yellow camera lens that filters out some the 395 blue/violet light, and under that it's glowy lime green.

It doesn't register with my Geiger, but neither do my other UG buttons when there is just one, I need a small pile to get anything. I'm not sure if it's UG or just really fluro manganese? Either way, it's probably my favorite glow button find so far ☺

A very, very hot clock

I found this clock today. It's very pretty. It's also much more radioactive than my spiciest piece of UG (custard glass that comes in at .065ish). This is with the tube directly over the hands, the rest of the face is about .250. The .019 is background.

Uranium buttons, and a weird coincidence

I found some UG buttons in the op shop today! The three largest ones in the photos, in a little $2 mixed button bag.

Driving home, it occurred to me that I had never properly checked my gran's old button tin. Had a look with my torch and I found three more buttons, which are three smaller ones in this photo.

What's weird is that my gran's buttons are identical to the larger ones I found today, just smaller. Same design and make. I've looked through my gran's button box hundreds of time, starting when I was tiny- I'm wondering if my brain actually recognized the design on the larger ones on some unconscious level, which is why I started thinking about it on the drive home.

Anyway. Uranium buttons! Yay!! (And thanks gran).

Another eBay blind(ish) buy 🤩

I have been yearning for some uranium milk glass! This was listed correctly, I think, as a Macbeth Evans piece, but it was really cheap- AU$7.

First photo is room lit, second is 365, third is 395, confirmed with a Geiger.

I love milk glass and this is pretty and glossy. I adore it 🥰.

I am blown away by how gorgeous that cadmium fire colour is IRL

This is my first high-content cadmium piece and wowwww. I get it now. Photos can't quite do it justice, it really does glow like fire.

Sweet little yellow glass pot with a cadmium glow

I wasn't sure about this piece but it was so cheap, I bought it anyway. Now it's here I am in love 🥰. Blown glass with a fan pinch frill around the top, glows like fire.

EBay blind buy

I was scrolling eBay and spotted this "vintage art glass trinket dish" for AU$10. I've never hit the Buy button so quickly. It arrived today and it is what I was hoping- cranberry and Vaseline glass 🥰. Pics are with a 395.

I have two more cheap blind buys on the way. Tbh I feel like I used up all my luck with this one (and I am more than okay with that).

Picked up this beautiful cabinet from FB Marketplace

I think this cabinet had been sitting in someone's garage for quite a while. It scrubbed up beautifully, and is going to make a wonderful home for my glass collection (once I put the shelf back in ofc).

I love fancy EAPG. This one is such a bright green 💚

This is under a 365. It must have stacks of manganese, it even shows up a little bit of green under the 395. No chips or cracks- a bargain at AU$8!

u/Witchinmelbourne — 3 months ago

So pretty 😍

My new Haisey (?) EAPG butter dish.

AU$8, no big chips or cracks- a few tiny chips on the edges, as you would expect. Absolutely packed full of manganese, as you can see from the last photo. It's absolutely gorgeous and I love it.

Uranium glaze?

This tea cup and saucer glows an intense green under 365, but almost nothing under 395. Is this possibly my first piece of uranium glaze?

Fenton custard glass, found in the wild

I found this Fenton bowl in an op shop today. I haven't seen a lot of custard glass up close before, but I have seen enough pictures online to know what I was looking at.

I had my torch but I hardly needed it, it's almost fluorescent without a light on it. I paid AU$25, which is a ridiculously good price (for Australia- confirmed UG seems to be expensive here, I think there is just less of it around).

I'm so glad I decided to hit up one last op shop before I headed home 🥰 My new favorite thing!

Who is this tall handsome stranger?

It's been a very good weekend here for glass!

I found this guy coated in a layer of dust at the back of the tip shop, for $6. The thick gold band has a gilded (bebossed, not etched) hand-tooled design on it (definitely done by hand, heaps of little inconsistencies that don't repeat). The coloured beads are glass but they are stuck on, not molded in. The base appears to be hand blown and it's not ground.

Any help ID'ing him? Some searching bought up Empoli-style apothecary jars, but I couldn't find one with such ornate gilding.
