Perfectionism in advance vision disease Keratoconus?

I have a friend who's 16 years and she recently diagnosed with Keratoconus which makes cornea thin and in cone shape which leads to distorted, double and ghosting vision. Now she's in advance stage and can't even think about any treatment because of anxiety because no real solution and after risks of any procedure..now doctor told her she has to do a procedure called C3R in they which stops the further Progression bt she is convinced that slightly makes the vision worse than before and after that she has to stay on hard scleral lenses on her whole life which she can wear 12-14 hours in a day bt without them she's partially blind she can't do a thing. Now she has done her research and she's refusing to take the C3R treatment which all the patient of KC do, as well as saying she can't stay on lenses her whole life. She wants her perfect natural vision back and doesn't want to go through any surgery. If sclerals give her near perfect vision she doesn't want because she had to do so much things in her life which needs vision without any boundation like trekking and many water activities which she can never be able to do in her Lifetime and also said after taking of lenses she'll be blind again and it will given her daily anxiety and lenses can also be harmful in long term that's why she has decided to give up on everything. She's just taking anxiety medicines continuously and doesn't want to talk any therapist or not even any family members about it. Is there nothing we can do for her??

I'm writing it to seek advice I really need about mercury intoxication. My friend is in really bad condition mentally and physically and I seriously don’t know what to do anymore. Around 5 months ago his cousin allegedly gave him inorganic mercury mixed in water. After that he started having kidney/back pain, numbness and weird sensations in hands and legs, chest heaviness, cough, weakness, burning/shooting nerve pains, confusion and brain fog.

Now blood and urine mercury reports are coming normal but he still believes mercury has damaged his nerves and brain permanently. He is convinced he will slowly get worse, go into coma someday or die because of hidden mercury in the body even after treatment. This couldn't be treated now.

He still has symptoms like breathlessness, severe weakness, numbness in hands and legs, blurry vision increasing everyday also he has moderate to advance Keratoconus, unable to eat and sleep also shooting spark pain in kidney, low B12(175) and D(11) levels

And the worst thing is he has completely lost hope. Barely leaves the house, barely talks. He isn't ready for any treatment and not even tests. because he thinks nothing can fix it now. He only shares things with me and sounds deeply depressed and terrified all the time.He is alone and lives with only his mother and his younger brother is living in hostel doing pharmacy. His brother doesn't know a thing about him as he doesn't want to let him know.

I just want honest advice from anyone who knows about mercury poisoning or has gone through something similar. Can symptoms and mental issues continue this long even after mercury levels become normal? Does mercury in nerves/brain keep worsening over time after exposure or not?

Feeling helpless watching him mentally and physically collapse like this.
