Need some slight guidance on progression (FO1)

Hi! I am currently playing through Fallout 1 for my very first time. I'm finding it incredibly enjoyable (a lot more than I expected), but I'm finding myself at a slight impasse. I feel that I'm under-leveled/underequipped for where I am progression-wise.

I'm finding myself unable to do the quests asked of me in both The Hub and The Boneyard due to what I assume is lackluster weapons/armor (Currently using a Hunting Rifle with Metal Armor), but I am severely lacking in the caps needed to purchase anything stronger. I also have Tycho, Ian, and Dogmeat with me. What am I meant to do in order to start progressing again? I already had to purchase the extension for The Vault.

Zoom Knob Repair

I have a JVC GR-SXM527 camcorder that I purchased at a thrift store a while ago. I finally got around to purchasing replacement batteries that it needed to function just to find that the zoom knob is messed up in some way.

When it’s in its neutral position, it automatically zooms in without my input. I have to hold it very slightly to stop it from doing so. Does anyone know any fixes for this?

I’ve already tried electric contact cleaner which worked for others with this problem, but not for me. I can only assume it’s a mechanical error. I can’t imagine it would be too difficult to dissasemble, but I’m not very knowledgeable on cameras. Any advice is welcome!

Do I Need Secure Boot Enabled?

I'm currently having a very strange issue where Windows only boots if Secure Boot is disabled in BIOS. I'm wondering if this will have any negative effects to my computer and if it's safe to leave off. Some sources online say that it will leave me open to malware, but I'm curious if this is really the case. I don't frequent any places that would leave me at risk to malware.

If it is dangerous to leave off, I would greatly appreciate any troubleshooting tips, as when Secure Boot is enabled, I'm greeted with a "Secure Boot Violation" error message. Thanks!
