Has Louisiana ever publicly recalled a medical cannabis product?
Louisiana medical cannabis has been sold to patients since 2019.
I’ve been trying to find a single state-mandated public recall of a Louisiana medical cannabis product since the program began, and I haven’t been able to find one.
That raises a question for me.
Has Louisiana really gone roughly seven years without a single product reaching patients that later warranted a public recall?
Or does Louisiana simply not have the same kind of transparent public recall system patients see in other medical cannabis states?
LDH says batches are tested before reaching retailers, and I understand that. But testing before sale and having a functioning post-market recall system are two different safeguards.
Why are restaurant inspectors regulating weed?
Is the Bureau of Sanitarian Services the right regulatory structure for a pharmaceutical-like botanical product that requires specialized expertise in cannabis cultivation, analytical chemistry, toxicology, pesticides, heavy metals, microbiology, remediation and post-market surveillance.
Does the regulator have enough cannabis-specific scientific expertise, independence and transparency to oversee that system effectively?
If anyone knows of an actual Louisiana medical cannabis recall, please post the state notice, date, product and batch/lot number. I genuinely want to see it.
And if there has never been one, shouldn’t Louisiana patients have a publicly searchable recall and safety-alert page?
