Reminder: Spider-Verse's inkline system is machine learning (AI) that automated a job artists used to do by hand
Spiderverse gets praised for its handdrawn look but those facial ink lines? A machine learning model predicted most of them. Sony's own FX supervisor said they were "teaching the computer to make drawings that we find redundant." Two movies down, one on the way, and not a single peep about it. Nobody called it AI, nobody protested, but it still automated A LOT of work that artists would've done manually.
(Edit: After what Sony has done this week, it just caused me to rethink my position on AI in general.)
