BMW U06 218i Active Tourer Automatic (the new one with big screen instrument cluster).

Changed only the front pads, took care not to bend any fluid line, exchange the small brackets and wear sensor. Put everything back together, torqued + successful test ride.

The service notification was still there ("Go to dealer in xx km. Driving still possible."). I knew the rough process from a different car and tried via diagnose mode (3x Start/Stopp + 15sec. settings button (center left button on the right side of the steering wheel)).

This is where it went wrong: I could locate "brake service", but no reset for the service interval. So I checked different menu options. As the navigation is one-button (tap, hold 2-seconds for ok, hold 5 seconds for back). I inadvertently activated brake fluid service thinking there is a sub-menu below.

Now the car list multiple error warnings:
- "Brake System"
- "Parking Brake inoperable"
- "Change brake pads front" (sigh)
- "Brake System: Stop careful now."
- "Parking Brake Initialisation required"
- "Driver assist unavailable."
etc.

In the dash, there is the yellow "!", the red "!" and sometimes the "Stop" warning light. The parking brakes still works, so does the regular brake.

My questions:
- Is it possible to recover using onboard tools or an odb dongle? If yes, roughly how?
- If a visit to the dealer is required, is the car still drivable? (I assume there is no hardware issue.
- What does the "brake fluid service" option in the menu actually do when selected.

I just bought a 1981 U1300L 435 firefighter unimog, based on the civilian version. I have yet to pick it up and want to go prepared with a "first-aid" kit, as I do not know when fluids were last checked.

I heard a lot about oil consumption and specifically regarding the portal gears running dry during highway use.

Can anyone name a specific oil & brand that I should buy? It did a lot of reading, but so far found only specification and standards, but no actual confirmed product.

Ich hatte gerade ein Video zur Neuausrichtung von Microsoft's Xbox-Division gesehen. Da ging es auch um die neu eingesetzten CEOs. Ich google gern nebenher, also hab ich mir den Lebenslauf der neuen CEO angeschaut:

Mit 17 Jahren im Marketing bei Microsoft, 2 Jahre später COO bei einer Heimwerker-Börse, 4 Jahre später VP bei Facebook, nach weiteren 4 Jahren COO im nächsten Unternehmen, dann -mit 37 und Kind irgendwo davor- CEO und VP bei Microsoft Gaming. Ohne Spieleerfahrung, nicht mal Hobby.

Wie geht das? Wie wird man VP Engineering bei Facebook nach 6 Jahren im Marketing + Startup? Wie wird man CEO bei MS Gaming ohne Spielerfahrung?

Ich sitz hier mit mehreren Abschlüssen, eineinhalb Jahrzehnten BE, internationaler Erfahrung, Stationen mit bekannten Namen, etc. und muss betteln, dass ich bei Bewerbungen überhaupt mal angeguckt werden.

Diese steilen Karrieren gibt's bei uns im Unternehmen auch, sind aber gänzlich konträr zu üblichen oder erwarteten Mustern (nie ein Projekt ganz abgeschlossen, Verweilzeit pro Station < Einarbeitung, etc.)

Ich war für meine Firma schon mehrfach mehrere Jahre im Ausland tätig. Immer zeitlich begrenzt, immer sehr intensiv und anstrengend, und immer gut bezahlt.

Die Stellen waren idR nicht besonders begehrt, da der private Aufwand z.T. sehr hoch ist (2 Umzüge, Partner gibt Job auf, Kinder in neue Schule/KiTa, etc.). Mir gefällt es aber, regelmäßig was Neues zu sehen. Meine Firma hat absehbar nichts anzubieten, also schaue ich mich anderweitig um.

Die Sucherei ist aber sehr beschwerlich: Als Standort ist meist die Zentrale in Deutschland angegeben, nicht das Zielland. Oft wird nur vage von Arbeit im internationalen Umfeld gesprochen. Dazu gesellen sich Unmengen von Fake-Anzeigen, Werbung oder Firmen, die scheinbar ANÜ/ZAK international anbieten, aber selbst die Ressourcen für eine ordentliche Abwicklung nicht haben.

Hat jemand Tips? Gibt es seriöse Portale für solche Stellen?
