And so it begins!

My Always Free tier VM instance was removed from my account today.

Interestingly, even though shape was 4/24, it was off for all of August - so even if you're not past your usage limit for the month, you will be affected if your shape is 4/24.

I did have my VM instance in my account still this morning, but then I pushed a PAYG tier upgrade and by the time it was completed, the VM had dropped from my account (maybe about an hour or so).

It's a shame that I lost the 4/24 (because I dont believe new instances retain these limits), but I was barely using mine and won't feel the pain of the change.

But yep! It's beginning, and I'm sure we'll see more posts on this subreddit over the coming week!

Thought I'd throw up this datapoint before the flood of questions / complaints come in!

Editing to add:

  • FWIW, boot volumes seem unaffected, and your account doesn't get suspended - it's literally just the vm instance that gets dropped. You should be able to spin one up within the more limited paramters.
  • I guess it's relatively a good thing that they don't suspend / deactivate the entire account, and just impact the vm instance itself (knowing Oracle and all...)
  • As I alluded to in OP, you dont need to hit up against the usage limits to have your instance impacted - you just need to have a 4/24 instance in a free tier plan, and then it gets unalived, regardless on whether it was running or not.

Denied BofA Checking Account... Because of Banking Score? (EWS)

Received the below notice from BofA after I was inexplicable denied for a checking account (just got the Summit Atmos card and was hoping to also open up a checking account for the relationship bonus).

What even is a bank inquiry?

And in the past 2 years, I only ever opened a SoFi bank account. The only other bank account I have is a Texas regional bank account... Both my accounts are well funded, 0 overdraft, and otherwise good banking health.

I did have multiple CC inquiries in the past 24mo - approved for all, and I'm not sure why credit cards would be considered for a checking account? For CC - Chase Sapphire Preferred (12 months), BILT (6 months) and now BofA Atmos Summit (1 month).

A week ago, I requested my report from Early Warning Systems. Just hanging tight for now, but this feels unjustified? Anyone have experience with something similar?
