Hello There

Set this up originally to try to get the pileated to come. Had just refilled the square cages for the 2nd time this week, after what I can only assume a larger woodpecker is tearing through them. Stepped inside to throw some things away and before I could even go back out to put up the ladder. Had a visitor.

Not sure exactly the type, but one of the bigger ones that has come so far

Golden Finchy

Had 2 in the yard recently but only been seeing 1 at a time since.

Thought possibly may come get a drink from the ant moat

Know they're common, but they are still kind of new to me. Crept into my top 5 maybe 4.

Final edit: The fledgling after about 2 hours, flew and hopped to me then took a nap by my feet. I went to grab a box to put in the chair bc I have to walk to clean hummingbird feeders and leave at 4 am for work. Went to gently pick up and woke it. Flew to the bushes and I think is off the ground at least. First time thats ever happened like that. The other edits was talking about this fledgling progress. It seems to be okay though

Will miss them

Migrating soon, so took a few videos.

Saw some full grown males while I was out there, so haven't started just yet. Will miss them, but going to surprise them next year.

Edit: They're sometimes nicer around 7-8. I like when they're perched on the swing with the frame as a house, huffing and puffing, for no reason. There is plenty.

Tiny T making the rounds

Set this basket feeder up for the lone blue jay that used to come, after seeing another redditors video.

Been largely ignored, so moved it closer to other feeder to at least tempt the Cardinals. Grackles made a visit but haven't been back, which I guess is semi good, and the Cardinals dont care for it currently, but noticed they are often feeding a delinquent, so that could be playing a part.

The tufted love it though, and Ive been enjoying watching them take off with a peanut from time to time.

Using this merlin bird Id app and can identify a blue jays call now, and if free ill spend morning doing calls back and forth on a speaker, but still haven't witnessed a visitor. Assuming winter ill have better luck, but for now Tiny T eating good.

Edit: kind of fun using the speaker to mimic bird calls. Took a break from blue Jay calls since google claims they feed in morning and sundown. Came out to no one at the feeder. Started with cardinals, then did the tufted and they both showed up. Ran through the list that normally shows up. Never did that before, but was kind of cool that it worked too.

2nd edit: just did a google if bird calls work and a deep dive. Luckily haven't been doing it long, but wont be doing that anymore.

About bed time

Love how much activity there is. Nicer to each other towards bed time.

Need to work on a camera for back there, best I could do at the moment with the phone

Edit: Sorry about the ac fan going

Thanks Reddit

Im not too familiar with all bird types. Neighbor spotted a yellow bird and told me about it. Google helped me identify, then reddit helped me find some decent feeders.

Spotted this guy yesterday on the fence but not on the feeder. Was out this morning trying to handfeed the hummers and he showed up again.

Thanks for helping me bring it to the yard

Goes to the feeder around 1 minute mark

Camera options

Hello, looking for good cameras to watch my finch feeders/hummer feeders, possibly from a distance of 15-25 yards. Most likely will get a lot of sun, and needs to withstand long periods. Ones that I can watch from my phone while on breaks at work would be awesome.

Golden finch feeders

I spotted one watching my 2 bird feeders, but it gets alot of cardinals and the occasional blue Jay, so going to set up another pole specifically for the finches.

Wondering if anyone can send me a link to some reliable/durable feeders for them?

& how far from the other feeders would you recommend?

Was thinking of hanging two up on same pole

Feels good

Hard to see "Jack" but looks overwhelmed sitting on one of the brackets.

Have 4 feeders out back, in pairs set up identical to this one, and sharing has been getting better.

Feeling confident when I get 4 more back there, all will be happy.

Jack & Cher

Jack is the male ruby that was the original aggressor that led to me having 4 feeders out back. Now Cher is the main aggressor that's leading me to add 4 more. The talk didnt work.

These I named because of behaviors. Jack Ruby and Cher.

GiGi is the sweetie that flies a foot from my face

Only 3 I can tell apart.

Theres another male ruby throated and when Jack's guarding he's smart enough to dance behind the feeder, then go to other 3 quickly, before Jack finds him again. Pretty funny when I see it.

They had a lovely little spat though.

She's pretty ruthless til it's closer to sundown

I

ronically been seeing them share on the 1 feeder out front (closer to sundown) .

Did the bg music since my ac unit is all you could hear
