I’ve been doing all my stuff in H265 10-bit Fast and usually happy with the results.
Anyway I’ve suddenly gained more patience (sleeping 8hrs instead of 6) and did a couple of the more challenging movies with Slow at the weekend and was happy with the results.
I’m not running another encode until the Euro heatwave subsides, or else I’d just test myself further.
If I was previously content for all but the most action-packed movies at Fast 6000kbps, what would equivalent be on Slow? 5500? 5000?
(I’m primarily working with grainy stuff so usually have tune=grain, if that helps)

Sequel to my 2 year old post I need to highlight every entry in my spreadsheet that either exceeds a set value in 1 column (A in this example) or shares the same value in another column (B) as those
I gotta filter some big spreadsheets in a couple of ways:
Where if (column B) exceeds a set value, highlight it and any in (column A) that share the same value in (column A)
As in 1, but only where all entries in column B that share a value in column A also exceed the set value
In this hypothetical I quickly mocked up in Numbers on my personal computer, the set value is 5. So for the first filter, I want it to look like this:
Which I can do with =IF(MAXIFS($B:$B,$A:$A,$A1)>=5,TRUE,FALSE)
For the second part I would want to only highlight these:
So that I can then take those values out of column A (in this example b and d) and list them somewhere else.
Hypothetically, if someone had some video with serious pre-Porygon-incident strobes that make me flinch away from my TV even at the lowest brightness setting…is there anything Handbrake can do to make this less dangerous?
Or another software I gotta look into?
I have a great video file with poor audio, and a poor video file with great audio but I need to transcode said audio before combining the good parts of both.
If I just whack the bad vid good audio one on a hardware encode at 1.00 CQ while doing proper specs for the audio, is the audio still getting treated as well as it would doing a software encode?

To be clear I don’t have any performance issues right now. Its just when I do my usual encodes - mostly grainy but not Weird Science-level grainy stuff - with the set-and-forget settings I’ve been happy with (H265 10-bit, tune=grain, 6000kbps, fast preset) it gets really, really hot.
Like, if I didn’t have a case on I wouldn’t be able to really touch the base level hot. I had it do an 8x 25-30mins episode OVA (not piracy if you own the discs in my jurisdiction afaik so not breaking rule 2) which took about 8.5hrs. In that time CPU usage on Activity Monitor for ‘HandBrakeXPCService’ was 760% and it was properly heating up any surface it touched. I read a few things and halfway through decided to add ‘frame-threads=3’ for the last 4 episodes (it was coming out at 8 in the Mediainfo for the first 4) to see if that helped and it knocked it down to 740% but still scorching.
Temperature seemed back down to normal maybe 20mins after the encoding finished. But I just worry - I’m not the most technically-minded person - that I might be harming the laptop, or at least its longevity?
Not interested in ‘why are you doing ABR, do CRF idiot!’ comments - ABR is providing an acceptable result at an acceptable file size for me and I don’t mind the time taken, its just the heat. But with the heat, wondering if I should switch to CRF or even VideoToolBox and accept a larger file size for similar results.
p.s. using Fast rather than Slow because of the heating issue too, I didn’t perceive enough improvements in visual quality for it to be worth the extra time with my laptop on fire
They bought with a UK credit card so this seems really shitty but the selling platform says you need a U.S./CAN bank account.
I see there’s a Transfer option, and it allows you to highlight both tickets - do people sell tickets outside of the official platform then transfer them? Or even if you transfer does the original owner have to attend?

I’ve not changed any settings - like, literally the only thing I’ve altered in the past year that I can think of other than installing programs is to change my wallpaper and screensaver, and deactivate Apple Intelligence

Bought a reshell + IPS screen GBA a few years ago - one with Gengar on it and matching box and that - and it’s great but dust gets in. This is a real problem for me as my house gets very dusty, but I’ve seen in this subreddit I probably just need to buy a dust guard and install it which…hopefully isn’t beyond my clumsy hands! I remember reading somewhere that a specific screen - maybe a newer version of IPS? - keeps the dust out
I want a 2nd console for redundancy and to trade Pokémon with myself, wondering what specific search terms I can use to guarantee one of these rumoured dust-proof ones? Like is it the v5 screens I see or something?
(I’m specifically wanting original GBA form factor not an SP if that makes a difference. It’s a shame as that Rayquaza one is cool af but it just wouldn’t be as comfy in my large hands)
As the title says - I’m in the UK and not imported any of these WAC collection sets, but I’ve been burned before with illogical stacked disc sets. So I just wanna know if this one has all 6 movies on their own holders?
