Looking for historical info on this part of Bridgeport

I am specifically interested in knowing what was on the land to the west of what is now Shirk Place - adjacent to Bechtel Park and the naturalized area.

I can see on archival maps that the entire area was once the mill pond, but the area has such an extreme drop between the stream to the south and the scrub land that touches on Becthel to the north that I can't understand how that could allow for a pond, even given sedimentation over the years. Next, that scrub area has ridges and shapes in the land that suggest maybe once a large building was there? And if you follow the path heading west and then north, there is a drop into a lower plain and there are huge concrete rocks that look like a foundation. The entire thing looks like abandoned and ruined industry but I'm not finding any info in a general online search. So maybe some folks here have info from their own memories.

Edit: looking at the present map again I'm wondering if the pond was on the south side of the stream, below the elevation, filling that low lying area between parking lots and housing.

I think I have Skeeter Syndrome

47 yr old woman, never had any major reaction to mosquitos. This started on Saturday (5 days ago) as a cluster of itchy bumps and now look at 'er! This is so disturbing! I got antibiotics just in case it is a tick bite and/or is infected, but the more I research Skeeter Syndrome, the more I think that is what I have. Thoughts?

(that is my knee in the bottom right corner)

A song written by F Scott Fitzgerald and Edmund Wilson - has anyone heard a recording?

In Edmund Wilson's collection of journal entries from that era, called The Twenties, he transcribes the lyrics to a song he and F Scott Fitzgerald wrote about dogs. The chorus was Dogs! Dogs! Dogs! It was an intentionally extremely banal and stupid.

Wilson writes that he later was surprised to hear from friends that it was playing in a nightclub.

Has anyone ever come across a recording of this song?

do different cultures have different taxonomic systems?

I wasn't totally sure where to ask this question but maybe someone in this group will have an answer - not having an easy time with online search.

I'm currently learning plant identification and I'm wondering if the system we use is universal. Like clearly it was developed in Europe, but obviously there must be other systems in which different cultures mentally organized plants, their characteristics and their usages.

If anyone has any resources on this please share! I would find it interesting to compare different systems as I learn.
