Chemistry YouTuber recommendations?

Hi everyone,

Does anyone have any good chemistry YouTuber recommendations?

I’ve tried watching The Organic Chemistry Tutor, but his videos are a bit too monotone for me, so I have a hard time staying engaged. I’m looking for someone who’s good at explaining concepts in a way that’s easier to follow.

I’m taking Intro to Chemistry this summer and General Chemistry I this fall, so I’d love to find a channel I can stick with before those classes get more challenging.

Thanks in advance!

Is it too early to start preparing for the MCAT as an incoming sophomore?

Hi everyone,

I’m an incoming sophomore majoring in Biomedical Sciences on the pre-med track, and I’m looking for advice on how to start preparing for the MCAT.

So far I’ve completed Biology I & II, Calculus I, College Trigonometry, Sociology, Philosophy, and my English requirements. By the end of this summer, I’ll have completed Intro to Chemistry and Statistics. This fall I’ll be taking General Chemistry I, General Psychology, Medical Terminology, and U.S. History.

I know I haven’t gotten very far into the MCAT prerequisite coursework yet. I still have General Chemistry II, Organic Chemistry, Physics, Biochemistry, and other classes ahead of me. However, I take longer than average to fully comprehend and retain new material, so I think starting early would help me build a strong foundation instead of feeling rushed later.

If you were in my position, what would you do during sophomore year to prepare for the MCAT? What resources or study habits would you recommend starting now, and what would you wait to do until I’ve completed more of the prerequisite courses?

I’d really appreciate any advice from people who started preparing early or wish they had. Thanks!

I thought my ex would say yes and now I’m embarrassed

This is probably the most embarrassing thing I’ve ever done.

My ex and I were together for almost 4 years. After we broke up, we were basically friends with benefits for the past year. Every single time he asked to hook up, I said yes. I never turned him down.

Fast forward to now, I had a complete lapse in judgment and messaged him asking if he’d hook up with me one last time. He replied, “Absolutely not, please leave me alone.”

I honestly wasn’t expecting that because he used to be the one constantly asking me. I don’t even know if he’s in a new relationship or not. He’s cheated before and has had a lot of girls in the past, so I genuinely have no idea what’s going on in his life anymore.

I know this probably sounds selfish, but part of me just doesn’t think it’s fair. Every time he wanted me, I said yes, and the one time I asked him, he told me no and to leave me alone. I know nobody owes anyone sex, and I understand that. It just hurts because the roles completely reversed, and I wasn’t prepared for it.

I feel so embarrassed and rejected. I know I shouldn’t have reached out. I’m not looking for people to tell me I was right. I know I messed up. I just needed to vent because I feel like I completely humiliated myself.

Nursing/BSN as Pre-Med or Stay in Biomedical Sciences?

I’m currently a freshman biomedical sciences pre-med student and my end goal is medical school. I’ve been considering whether switching to nursing/BSN would make sense because it gives a stronger job after undergrad, but I’m worried it may make MCAT studying, research, and applying to med school harder.

I don’t really want to take a gap year if I can avoid it, and I still want research experience. For anyone who did nursing as a pre-med major or considered it: did it help you, or did it become too much of a detour? Would you recommend nursing as a pre-med path, or should I just stay in biomedical sciences if med school is my main goal?
