does anyone here actually believe “deep absorption” claims in skincare? 🤔

I’m in Korea, and lately it feels like skincare marketing here is all about absorption.

Every brand says their product helps active ingredients absorb deeper into the skin, and I get what they’re trying to say, but honestly… I still don’t know how much of it I really believe.

I’m not saying all of it is fake. I do think formulas have gotten better over the years. But if a product is using genuinely advanced delivery tech, can it really be sold at normal Olive Young prices? That’s the part I keep getting stuck on.

Maybe I’m just being cynical, but a lot of these claims still feel kind of vague to me.

Like, when brands say “deep absorption,” what does that actually mean to you?
Do you believe some products can really deliver actives that deeply?
Or do you think it’s mostly marketing language made to sound more scientific?

I'm curious to know what people here think, especially if anyone has a better understanding of the science side.

I used to write articles trying to convince people to wear SPF lol. now everyone already knows and the market has exploded so much I literally can't keep up with testing everything anymore. new releases every season from every brand… it's a lot 😅

so here's what I've actually been reaching for lately 👇

Bioderma Cicabio Day Repair SPF50+ PA++++ the OG of derma brands and it shows. whatever state my skin is in — irritated, post-procedure, just generally angry — I can put this on and feel completely safe. no second-guessing. sensitive skin people, this is for you 🙌

SK-II Genoptics Airy UV Cream SPF50+ PA++++ New release!! SK-II is honestly more known for their tone-up sunscreen but this one is a completely different vibe — super thin, silky application that just melts into the skin. and the packaging 😍 it comes in this pebble shape that's so satisfying to hold. the kind of thing that makes you actually want to apply sunscreen lol

Noelo Hills Sun Cushion ok this one's funny — it's technically a kids' brand lol. But that's exactly why I love it?? The cushion format is perfect for reapplying over bare skin throughout the day, and because it's made for kids it's SO gentle I never worry about irritation. also helps calm redness which I did not expect. Hidden gem ✨

Aestura Derma UV 365 Vita-C Radiance Sunscreen SPF50+ PA++++ Korea derma brand!! now it's gettting popular internationally! Vitamin C + SPF in one so it's brightening while it protects. Great for dry or stressed skin and doesn't pill under makeup at all.

Anessa Perfect UV Sunscreen Skincare Milk SPF60+ PA++++ LEGEND. I don't use that word lightly lol. the UV protection on this is genuinely unmatched — I will not go on a trip without throwing this in my bag. non-negotiable 🙏

AHC Masters Aqua Rich Sun Cream SPF50+ The application on this is chef's kiss — glides on so smoothly. I use it daily but honestly what sold me is my teenage daughter is obsessed with it too. She layers it over full makeup and says it never pills or moves. high praise from a teenager lol 😂

Around Lab Birch Moisture Sun Stick SPF50+ PA++++ stick format = best for reapplication on the go, zero mess. Birch water base feels surprisingly hydrating for a stick formula and leaves zero white cast. I keep this in my bag always 👜

UIQ Biome Remedy Waterproof Sun Cream SPF50+ PA++++ If you have dry skin that stays dry even in summer, this one's for you. It's so hydrating it almost feels like you're applying skincare, not sunscreen. my skin drinks it up every time 💧

Sunzeon Sport Cooling Moisture Sunscreen SPF50+ PA++++ Brand new launch!! designed for runners and people who work out, and the cooling effect is the real deal — not just marketing. My skin genuinely feels cooler after applying ☀️ also!! They have a sachet version where you just tear one open and use it — so convenient for when you're actually out running. No tube to carry around, just grab and go 🏃‍♀️

Btw I know there are great US sunscreens too — I've been seeing Supergoop everywhere lately, their marketing is hard to miss lol. But I'm curious what you guys actually use??

In Korea and Japan, SPF number is honestly just the starting point. texture, finish, how it layers over skincare, whether it feels like a skincare step itself… all of that matters just as much. Is that the same for US sunscreens? What makes them stand out? genuinely asking

Tonight's night care routine = slapping a cooling patch on my face lol. That's where I'm at 😂

My biggest skin concern lately is flushing. As I'm in my late 40s, my face suddenly turns red. Husband keeps saying it's menopause but I'm like… no?? I haven't even gone through menopause yet!! 😤

People still think I look late 30s tho (is that just an Asian woman thing?? lol) so I've got that going for me I guess. But this flushing is really getting to me and nothing seems to work.

What's your night routine like? Any flushing remedies that actually helped you?
Pls drop everything you got 🙏

Just sharing what I've been loving lately 🙂
my skin : dry / 40s / redness / always wear sunscreen ^^

UIQ Biome Remedy Cooling Pad
Since turning 40, morning redness has become a thing for me. This cools it down fast. On bad days I'll put Aestera cream on thick first and then lay the pad on top — accidental morning mask and it actually works lol

Dr. Base Barrier Serum
Made by a dermatologist and my thin skin loves it. Absorbs immediately, no fuss. Also helps with redness which is always a bonus for me. (fun fact — the doctor behind this brand is actually my own dermatologist. so yes, I am a loyal patient AND a loyal customer 😄)

UIQ Biome Barrier Cream Mist
I use this instead of toner. Too many times wiping toner can be irritating, and once I heard it. 😅 Gives a nice glow so I also spray it over makeup throughout the day.

Aestera Atobarrier 365 Cream
Genuinely cannot run out of this. Just this alone on bare skin and I'm not dry all day. Year-round staple, no debate.

ISOI Blemish Care Serum
My evening serum. I layer it a few times and let it sink in properly. Come to think of it, redness has been my biggest skin concern my whole life 😂

d'Alba White Trouble Double Serum & Cream
d'Alba products generally run light on my skin but this one is different — feels like actual nourishment. Comes with serum and cream separately, I mix them on the back of my hand and massage in at night. Perfect way to end a skincare routine ✨

OH! Yellow serum is from Japan... I got from Don Quijote

Does anyone else have holy grail products keep repurchasing? Would love to know 🙏

(I write in Korean and translate with AI help — all opinions are genuinely mine!)
