Uh Hi Mr Technodad, kind of feel like I should ask permission for this

Hi I am a marketer for a company, tasked with producing "motivational" cards like the ones with the rectangles of quotes and some scenic background.

Can I have your permission to use this quote from Alex?

"No matter how ridiculous the odds may seem, within us resides the power to overcome these challenges and achieve something beautiful. That one day, we'll look back at where we started and be amazed by how far we've come.”

I may have fucked up my time in uni cos now my CV is overspecialised. (Singaporean here).

Hi, I’ll be graduating from a private university in September with a degree in communications and journalism. Most of my coursework focused on writing newspaper-style articles, so my portfolio and CV are heavily centred on that.

The issue is that I focused almost entirely on two niche topics:

  • board games/DnD community in Singapore.
  • disability/accessibility-related spaces

To explain why the hell I picked those two, the second one is because I am genuinely wanting to work in that space.

problem is now that I’m applying for internships and entry-level roles in marketing and newsrooms, I’m worried my portfolio feels too narrow or niche for the Singapore job market.

Would appreciate any advice on:

  • how to position a CV/portfolio like this more effectively
  • whether I should broaden my portfolio before applying
  • and how employers in marketing/newsrooms generally view niche subject matter if the writing/reporting skills are solid

Hi all, how is my design so far?

It's the background for a feature article on accessibility concerns within the tabletop/boardgaming space, which is currently very early in the design process. Does the colour palette work? Is it hard to read? I would appreciate all feedback right now.

The idea I was trying to go for is for it to feel like a vintage Monopoly/Monopoly Deal board in terms of colour palette. I am working in Canva Affinity for this project.

The brown box and blue box are to be image placeholders for the photos that will go in.

And Also, re: the title, is there an open source font that resembles Century Schoolbook, cos its the closest I have found to those old timey board game manual fonts so far.
