In an alternate universe, had the Clarkson era of Top Gear not ended so abruptly, (and Grand Tour never happened) how would you have liked TG to have ended if it had been planned in advance?
I did appreciate that at least some effort was put into the final episode of Top Gear, despite the fact it was still at the end of the day a botch job of the VTs that have been finished stuck together with continuity. I thought they were entertaining features, but nothing at the level that a final episode of Top Gear should deserve.
The solemn ending was reasonably well done (of the credits rolling without Jessica theme song), and it at least acknowledged that it wasn't just another episode of Top Gear, but the severing of a very beautiful friendship.
I have a few propositions of how it could've ended.
- One final big final film, ending with a humorous ending. Something along the lines of the boys ending up being captured by an tribe (when they had merely asked for directions), and then preparing to be eaten (but not realising it) Jeremy says: I thought they were supposed to give us directions. Richard replying 'erm chaps, I think they want far more than that, before James saying 'oh cock'. The final shot is a of the house their in, with a caption: Jeremy Clarkson, 1960 - 2015, Richard Hammond, 1969 - 2015, James May 1963 - 2015
- A final car review akin to the infamous Aston Matin V12 Vantage, of the one car Jeremy think will be a future classic and remembered for decades to come. Using a different song to Brian Eno - An Ending (perhaps Orbital - Halycon On and On).
- The Top Gear studio ending up being blown up, again finishing with the caption of Jeremy Clarkson, 1960 - 2015, Richard Hammond, 1969 - 2015, James May 1963 - 2015
What are your thoughts on the United Reformed Church in the UK?
From what I'd understand, the denomination overall is very liberal, ageing, and in very significant decline. But amongst it there are a minority of more evangelical churches which are holding the line and have a more balanced congregation.
I was taken an URC church by a family member a few years ago, and remember the preacher n using more analogies that was probably necessary, 'we can see the resurrection in all areas of life, whether it be within the immigrant, the person claiming benefits, the disabled and the unloved'. For what of a better word, the focus seemed to on teaching vague Christian spirituality without Christian religion. Most of the congregation were over 70, and it was fairly uninspiring in terms of the worship.
During the intercessions, prayers were made that that Palestine would be recognised by the United Nations. Some of the prayers were drawn from URC Prayer Book. As someone who is not familiar with it, it seemed a bit over simplified in terms of use of its language and overall really off for reason.
I've got adverts for the URC on Facebook over the years, with one church emphasising that out of loving thy neighbour, they held a Muslim prayer group in their church hall.
I've occasionally flicked through the URC magazine (called Reform), and its certainly very wide range of perspectives, and over the years had carried articles about writers who are not sure about there being life after death.
What are people's experiences with the URC?
How do I remove a named appointee from Universal Credit account
A while ago a family member was requested by me to act on behalf for Universal Credit claim when mental health was way worse than it is now. I have only ever claimed UC as an adult.
What would the process look like of removing them? Is it just a matter of writing a message in Universal Credit journal. Some people have said that they have to come round your house and conduct a visit?
In this case the money was continued to be paid into my bank account, so I'm not sure what arrangement this was?

youtube.comWhat do you normally have for breakfast?
I go through phases
For a few weeks I had nothing but protein yoghurts, as the medication I was on made me extremely hungry needed something which would keep me fuller for longer whilst the side effects wore off.
Aisde from this I normally have cereal (Special K currently) but was Weetabix for a few years. Had begun to mix it up a bit with a small amount of sprinkled sugar and dark chocolate chips.
I also have some sausage patties, eggs and breakfast muffins in the freezer when the moment hits. And I also have some long life croissant, which today I had dark chocolate chips and banana slices on top off (really nice, would recommend!).
I'm planning on exploring doing some more croissant combinations too, including pistachio cream and chocolate shavings; whipped cream; strawberry, banana and chocolate; as well as billionaires chocolate chips.
A top tip for everyone here if you are struggling with ideas of new meals ideas, look through menus of restaurants, cafes and pubs etc. I love doing this.
I do this all the time, and have come up with dozens of good meal ideas that I wouldn't have ever considered
I also like looking for interesting/novel combinations and like trying these out for my self out home. It saves a tons of money and you can discover new ideas you thought weren't even possible.
Have been on Lexapro 5mg for a month, didn't see any difference to symptoms. Recently upped to 10mg a few days ago. What should I be expecting?
Have had persistent depressive disorder (a.k.a: dysthymia) and anxiety for several years.
Was put on Lexapro (5mg) a month ago, and once the side effects (disrupted sleep, headaches, incrased hunger) passed, didn't notice any change to my underlying symptoms. My assumption is that if it was working, I would have begun to see subtle changes in the 3rd and 4th week. I didn't.
I've been upped to 10mg now, and have been on this for a few days. Should I also expect no change even if I continue to take this for several weeks based on my lack of response to 5mg?
What signs should I expect in the first place if it does work? How has Lexapro been for you? What changes have you seen, if any?

Did any of the Clarkson era series of Top Gear have any influence on your car buying decisions?
I watched the Clarkson era of Top Gear religiously with my Dad back in the day and he has recently said that watching the indestructible Toyota Hulix episode and also when it went to the North Pole had a big influence on us buying a Toyota for our first ever new car as a family.
Going to Spoons today for the first time in years, any ideas of what to try
And what to avoid?
Don't like baked potatoes and mash, courgette, but open to anything else.
This is a list of all the dishes/meals I'm due to try at some point, which I thought I'd share. It regularly gets updated with new ideas added, old ideas crossed off as I had them. I suffer from depression it gives me a sense of purpose/meaning to my life.
Questions about Lexapro/Escitalopram 5mg > 10 mg
Hello
I've had persistent depressive disorder (PDD) and anxiety for several years, on a background of Asperger's Syndrome and Dyspraxia.
Several years ago had tried various SSRIs and SNRIs, including Sertraline, Citalopram and Venlafaxine. But came off all of these these after a few weeks of taking all of these, as was hard to tolerate initial side effects. With the Venlafaxine it was literally 3 days, to know it was unbearable as caused severe insomnia.
Following successfully went on to Mirtazapine 30mg, one a day, for a few years. Felt it took the edge/numbed the symptoms a fair bit (probably 20% improvement), rather than actively improving motivation, brain fog etc. Wouldn't say it was at all 'activating', merely made my lows less low.
Me and my doctor have decided to trial Escitalopram/Lexapro 5mg. I've been on a month so far. Prior to this I'd been tappered off the Mirtazapine for 8 weeks without any issues. This time round I've had the mental resilience to put up with the initial side effects (increased hunger, extreme sweatiness, increased muscle tension, mid afternoon slumps in my case) of a new anti-depressant. These have all blown over by now.
However, I'm still yet to see any change whatsoever to baseline mood after 5mg. I've been taking it for a month, so I was expecting to see some subtle changes to mood by now. A number of posts, have said that for PDD in particular, rather than MDD, it can take 2- 3 months for any changes to show, so I'm curious. Granted, also in my own country, 5mg is considered 'pre-therapeutic dose' also'
I've just gone onto 10mg, so given that I've not seen any change to my mood after 5mg after a month, am I very unlikely to see significant change on 10mg, even if I were to take the increased dose for several months?
I'm fully expecting side effects of upping the dose, and I'm prepared for this. But are they likely to similar in intensity? Are there likely to be a greater range of new side effects also?
I also have Asperger's Syndrome at the very high functioning end too.
I'd be interested to hear from people with similar experiences (especially from those are using Escitalopram to deal with PDD and anxiety) and how quickly the onset of improved mood was (e.g: very gradual and consistent , or you only noticed the improvement when you were in a specific situation).
My doctor has also suggested that my condition could well not be PDD alone, but also Asperger's. They emphasised that Autism and well as personality affects how you personally respond to difficult circumstances.
Universal Credit Routine Review question
Hello, I was awarded LCW several years ago, and a remain on this today. This is relation to mental health problems which continue today.
I've recently had to upload 4 months worth of bank statements. Others have told me that since the request has come from a Virtual Job Centre, this is a sign its a routine review, rather than a more detailed capital review. Now there's probably several dozen transactions over the 4 months on there relating to all sorts of purchases like buying food/drink, gadget insurance, travel expenses, Amazon purchases etc. However over the 4 month period, among those there are a few low cost one-off transactions* relating to adult websites/cam sites. When I say a few (I'm not using this as a euphuism), I really do mean no more than a just a few.
- I imagine DWP are already fully aware of the third party payment processers that these sites use as they likely deal with a huge range of claimants and life situations? If they do know, do they even care? I'd like to think its irrelevant, as the purpose of review is more interested in investigating undeclared sources of income, sending large amounts of money to other accounts to conceal capital etc, rather than what you an adult choses to spend their money on, providing its not illegal.
- Will I likely have to explain myself as to why I've been spending UC money on these websites? Are they likely to even ask in the first place, I'm wondering?
