I wish I didn’t have to explain things everyday

I’m a HoH college student. I never learned ASL, so I use CART (real time captions) in class.

Every time there’s a group assignment, I have to tell new people that I have trouble hearing, and then I have to explain that I’m using captions. Sometimes people start asking me how the captions work, and then they say silly things because they want to see it show up on my screen.

I’m not offended that my classmates are curious, but it gets tiring saying it everyday. I just want to study like everyone else, I don’t want to hold an entire QnA.

Does anyone else compulsively check the news?

I’m a pretty political person and I like to stay up to date and be informed. But I just keep looking at the news, I can’t stop myself. Sometimes when I’m out in public and I’m busy, I even just google “news” or “current events” just so I can skim the headlines and feel better.
