17f Looking for a few friends to chat about interests with!

I believe the best way to make friends is through interests! It makes things a tad bit less awkward and gets us chatting about things that matter to us. Personally, I don't really have any friends I feel close enough to share things with. I'm always working on/learning something but have no one to share the frustration and small wins with. If you feel the same, or just want people to share your hobbies with, then drop a comment! We can make a gc together. The age range 15-19 is preferable!

Some things about me:

I'm into coding, writing, reading, crocheting, and robotics, but the first one and the last one are the only things I ever work on nowadays. I'm currently working on a website and planning out another robotics project

I get excited about things way too easily. Body of water? Beautiful! Stunning! Picture-worthy! Bird pecking grass on the street? Absolutely adorable. Best creature to ever exist. PowerPoint assignment where we get to present whatever topic we want? Fun! Funner than fun! Eagerness fills my soul!

I love animals but have no pets. I don't watch shows or movies a lot as of late, really only videos. The shows I've recently gotten back into watching are Rick and Morty and Jojo's Bizaare Adventure. As for youtubers, I watch Kubzscouts and CoryxKenshin (when he exists). Offhand I may watch Verasitium, Malli, and NileRed. Those are the names I remember, but I'll watch whatever looks interesting tbh.

You do NOT have to have the same interests as me. In fact, I'd love to learn about different hobbies, so please don't use that as a limiter.

Drop a comment with a bit about yourself if you're interested!

EDIT: Hi everyone!! Thank you for all the enthusiastic responses, I have so many cool people I've met and see in the comments! I'm getting a bit overwhelmed with all the responses though, so I have to close the post for now. Sorry if I don't get to replying to everyone, I appreciate all of you beautiful souls though!

17f looking to start a small gc to share progress on projects and whatever else!

I believe the best way to make friends is through interests! It makes things a tad bit less awkward and gets us chatting about things that matter to us. If you feel the same, or just want people to share your hobbies with, then such a group chat is for you! It'll be on Discord, and it's super low pressure. I'd prefer to meet people around the same age as me, so the age range 15-19 is preferable!

I’m going to be alone forever. Advice to cope?

We weren’t even really together. I’ve known him for forever—since first grade maybe? He said he was interested at some point. For a few years, he said romantic things and gave me valentines day chocolates. Then I texted him one day and he didn’t reply. I waited. It’s been 8 months.

I don’t think I’m an inherently likable person. Like, sure I’m nice, but if I walked out on everyone I know, they’d be just fine. I’m close to no one and no one desires to be close to me. When I was younger, despite everyone growing up together, no one spoke to me unless I spoke to them (and I spoke to them A LOT). So I’ve concluded I’m just not the type people can attach to.

I guess him liking me was confirmation I could be loved. I liked him for his personality, I thought he liked me for mine. Then he ghosted me and he’s doing better and has everything I could ever want. Before, I thought I did something wrong and that was okay. But now I know I just didn’t matter to him. And that hurts.

I can’t be with anyone outside my small religion, and I wouldn’t be comfortable being with anyone but him anyway. So it’s hard getting over this because not only did I lose someone I cared about because I wasn’t enough x, it’s proven to me I’m destined to spend my life alone. Idk, I’m bad at describing feelings. I just imagined a future together for so long and now my dreams of kids and loving him now crumbling in front of me.

Anyway, this revelation pains me anytime I think about it, and me piling on tasks for myself to complete wasn’t helping. So I’m giving myself a one week vacation where I don’t care about wasting my life. Do you have any suggestions for activities I can do to make myself okay?

Fantasy writers, let's make a deal.

Hey! So I had an idea that may or may not help us fantasy writers. It's simple: you read someone else's first chapter, and in exchange, someone reads your first chapter.

But isn't this literally just a R4R?? Well yeah it's sort of a mass read for read, but you only have to actually read one person's first chapter like its a story you clicked on, vote on it, then comment something showing you read it through. The other person does the same for the first chapter of your story. That's it. That's all.

If you like the person's story, you like it and maybe keep reading it. If you don't, well it was only a chapter and a bit of your time, so it's not like you have to commit to reading it.

Here's how it works:

Writers: Drop a description of your story and the link into the comments. When there's enough comments (like 6 probably), I'll give your story to someone else who will give it a genuine read, then vote and comment. Then I will reply to your comment, telling you whose story you do the same to in return. This way, we may find stories we like without the pressure of committing to reading consistently.

Readers: If you're looking for a new book, drop your fantasy preferences and I'll give you a book from the comments that somewhat matches!

R4r, v4v, and c4c are nice, but they only make the story look popular. You don't often gain a genuine reader who appreciates your work for what it is. Sure you could ask for long term r4rs, but those are so hard to find because they're so hard to commit to and often end up feeling like an obligation.

The way I see it, this could enable us fellow writers to try books we wouldn't normally give a chance. And in exchange, there's the possibility of gaining readers who actually enjoy our work. I mean it's one comment. One chapter. Might as well give it a shot.

Drop your favorite scenes from your novel in the comments!

"Why don't you try smiling more? Might brighten up that depressed scar-ridden face of yours."

[REDACTED]’s expression remained the same, but his gaze stayed fixed on [SMILES].

"I mean, the least you could do is lose the axe."

[SMILES] reached for the weapon and [REDACTED] swiftly grabbed [SMILES]'s wrist and lifted him by the arm.

"You are lucky you are [EVEN MORE REDACTED]" he stated coldly, eyes burning a hole through [SMILES].

[SMILES] seemed unbothered and just rolled his eyes.

"Oh, I'm lucky, am I? I didn't need [REDACTED]. Nobody even wants you here. Now let me go, you oaf!"

[REDACTED] did not let him go. If anything, he tightened his grip.

"I was not sent here to babysit you. I was sent because you could not keep this girl on this ship even if you tried. You are incompetent and immature."

[SMILES] spit in his face.

"Let. Me. Go." [REDACTED] didn't even acknowledge the spit on his face, just stared at [SMILES] with an unwavering coldness.

"Apologize with a shred of respect, and I will.”

[SMILES], being ever the compliant one, opted to not do that and instead just stayed squirming and biting [REDACTED]‘s hand until he decided resistance was hopeless.

[SMILES] then sighed dramatically.  "I'm so very very sorry I disrespected the Almighty [REDACTED]. Could you ever forgive me?" He batted his eyelashes.

[REDACTED]'s eyes were still narrowed, but he dropped [SMILES] onto the ground after a few seconds.

(The story isn’t always like this I promise I just love their dynamic a lil too much 🧎‍♀️)
