How did I get into this mess? It's story time.
Hello my fellow VHS enthusiasts.
I know we all have our various collection methods. I personally prefer Facebook Marketplace, aim for large cheap lots and then let the chips fall where they may.
Well, thanks to this subreddit and all the people I've seen having success at estate sales, I thought I'd roll the dice and try my luck.
I happened upon an estate sale Sunday, I peeked around and picked up about a dozen VHS for a dollar each.. nothing really to write home about. Back To The Future was probably the highlight. Left, and went on my way.
The next day I saw the estate sale advertised again, on a Monday?! What the hell. So, it happens to be on my way home and I stop in. The gentleman asks me what I'm searching for and I reply " I was already here yesterday and picked through the VHS just seeing if anything else has been unearthed since then." Thats where it went downhill.
He told me that there was a room in the basement that they had just opened up and it was filled with VHS and I'd be doing him a favor by taking them. Of course, my eyes lit up. I followed him to the room and there before me were boxes, and boxes, and boxes of VHS "blanks". I immediately said I will take them all. He said if you want them all they're yours but you got to take them all. Perfect.
I severely underestimated how many VHS tapes there were. I've had 3 pickup truck loads thus far, and when I left today there was still more to grab.
What would you all have done? Grabbed them all? Laughed and walked away? What am I supposed to do with them?!
I can't even approximate a number, but if I had to I would say I am now in possession of over? 3000 "blank" tapes. The pictures Ive included doesnt even show all of them, there are 6 more boxes behind that huge stack and 5 contractor bags.
And before you ask, yes. A LOT of them are porn.
