Question for coaches and trainers

I am a coach/trainer at a small league. I love them and it's a great community! I wonder sometimes how to handle that line we walk between these two truths--this is a sport we all pay to be a part of and most of us have school or full time jobs or both and the time we have to give to derby is what we have to give--and--the reality is that the more time you spend on skates and devote to the sport the more you are going to get out of it and your ability to show up and be present at practices does affect the ability of your team and league mates to progress. As a coach I know that most people, including me, are just out here doing the best we can and trying to do too much but I also can see people disappointed in game outcomes and wanting to improve their performance and I don't always know how to talk about the latter without mentioning the former. Does that make any sense? Any insights?

Charging “Sideways” at Tesla Chargers

I try to avoid these anyway. But I’m on my first roadtrip (Maine to Pennsylvania) and following the ABRP app and it seems like I don’t have much choice sometimes. I hate how I have to come in and park crooked and get dirty looks from all the Tesla dudebros. And I feel like it’s kind of on purpose that the cords are stupid short because they don’t really want us here anyway. (Yes I know this is an exaggeration)

[CHAT] How much time do you need?

When I think about sitting down to stitch, if I look at the clock and don’t have at least an hour to give my project, it doesn’t feel worth it to start. By the time I get settled in with the tablet and the magnifying light and my frame and turn on the audio book anything less than an hour and it feels like no time at all. What about you? Will you stitch for 10 minutes in between things?

Any update on a timeline for the MCP?

As I know Monarch folks are active in here, is there anything new you can tell us? I know this is complicated and there are lots of things you can’t say, but I’m hoping you might be able to give us an idea—are we settling in to wait out months of negotiations? Just waiting for the lawyers to firm things up? Any news at all? Thanks!

[CHAT] cool find at Mike’s

Went to the much cooler town next door where they have a bigger Michael’s and found these “sublimation totes.” I only vaguely know what that means but I’m pretty I can cross stitch on it! $14.99. Going to start on Christmas gifts.

Courses getting revised

I’m currently taking a (graduate) course where some of the module section were clearly left over from when something else was taken out and quite a few milestone prompts are vague or otherwise confusing. My professor has told us the course is currently being revised and the prompts edited for clarity. Well that’s really nice for the next section but let me tell you, this has been a painful final project.

[CHAT] Maine-based stitchers and aida

Hello! Anyone else stitching in Maine? I saw a post from a year ago, but curious to see where folks are buying hand-dyed aida in person up here. I've been searching and it seems like the Crafty Grimalkin is out of stock of all my preferred 16 count. Does Fiddlehead fabrics reliably have aida in stock, because it's certainly not featured on their website. I'm a bit north of Portland, and would drive up to 2 hours occassionally to support and independent shop! (Also open to stitching get-togethers!)

Subaru Badges Placement

I'm not a car sticker person, but always make an exception for my Subaru badges. My fresh batch (5th Subaru) just came in the mail and I'm deciding on placement. Where on the Uncharted is eveyone (who has them) putting theirs?

P.S. I don't need to hear why you don't like the badges.

Organization Solutions?

Hi all - I've had my Uncharted Sport for a bout 2 weeks now and my mind is still kind of blown by the no glove box thing. I like to keep my service records there and a few other things. I know about the "secret" compartment under the console tray --but what is everyone doing to have a little extra storage space?

Was thinking about a back of the seat organizer but they all kind of look cheap except for the Carhartt one, which is a possiblity, but I just wanted to see if anyone else had found cool stuff.

[CHAT] Shoutout to 123Stitch

I'm just a customer of 123Stitch and not affliated with them in any way, but I wanted to share a really nice experience I had. In their shopping cart there is a little place that says to write whatever you want and that they read every single one. So my last order I posted a little cry for help that I couldn't choose what color fabric would work for a specific project. They emailed me the next day, asked to see the pattern, pulled a whole bunch of suggestions for me above what was in my cart. After I picked something they fixed my cart and sent everything out.

Yesterday I once again decided to start a (different) project over because I didn't like the color aida with that pattern, so I used our email conversation from before to ask for help again and the lovely Dylan once again pulled me all sort of options and took photos so I could see the dye lot. What a great example of customer service! I highly recommend!!!
