USS Roanoke bridge light test

Light test of the USS Roanoke bridge, conference room, and operations center. This is all taped together and held over a strip of LEDs (or a flashlight in my lap!) so keep that in mind. There will be ceiling lights installed in the form of micro-SMDs in the conference room and operations center.

The ops center sits at the front of the B deck. Yes, that’s a Starfleet logo in the wall monitor and there are tiny LCARS on the standing tactical tables, as well as horizontal wall lights.

The tabletop in the conference room lights up with a frosty glow.

And I made two different bridge domes. One is solid and the others has a skylight.

Custom design: USS Roanoke

I taught myself Plasticity in order to design this ship (and others that will follow). This is a Tír na nÓg class ship, from about the same era as the Enterprise-C. (Tír na nÓg is one of the names of the Celtic Underworld and means "Land of the Young.")

I will be building a physical model of this in 1/350 scale. I already have it printed and it will be my next project after I finish a 1/650 scale Enterprise-C. There will be physical rooms behind each of the windows, and yes that is a bar/lounge at the rear of the neck. I've already worked out a firing sequence for the photon torpedo launchers at the front and rear of the neck.

Having an issue with a NeoPixel stick

UPDATE: Problem solved. Thanks!

Hi. No I've had some success in the past with NeoPixels for scale modeling projects, and I picked up two NeoPixel sticks to use as runway lights in a new project. Just a warning, I do use Google Gemini to write the code. I've had zero success writing code for myself.

Anyway, the code is working and it's designated for eight neopixels but only the first six are lighting up. See the video below, as well as a copy of the code. This is happening on both sticks.

They are connected to my standalone DC power supply so it's not a power issue.

Thanks.

My request to Gemini:

Write a sketch for an arduino nano. It will be powering an Adafruit neopixel stick with eight LEDs. Use digital pin 6 on the nano. Create an airport runway effect starting at one end and continuing through all eight LEDs. Maximum brightness should only be 50%. loop.

CODE

#include <Adafruit_NeoPixel.h>

// Explicitly assigning to Digital Pin 6

#define LED_PIN 6

#define LED_COUNT 8

Adafruit_NeoPixel strip(LED_COUNT, LED_PIN, NEO_GRB + NEO_KHZ800);

// Adjust the speed of the runway pulse here (lower = faster sequence)

const int CHASE_SPEED = 90;

void setup() {

strip.begin();

strip.show(); // Ensure all pixels start turned off

// Set the hardware master volume to 50% brightness (128 out of 255).

// Any color value up to 255 we set below will scale down to this physical limit.

strip.setBrightness(128);

}

void loop() {

// Running the loop to LED_COUNT + 2 allows the traveling pulse and

// its trail to completely slide off the end of the stick before resetting.

for (int i = 0; i < LED_COUNT + 2; i++) {

strip.clear(); // Clear the previous frame layout

// 1. The Lead Strobe (Pure White at peak allowed brightness)

if (i < LED_COUNT) {

strip.setPixelColor(i, strip.Color(255, 255, 255));

}

// 2. First Trailing Pixel (Medium blur effect)

if (i - 1 >= 0 && i - 1 < LED_COUNT) {

strip.setPixelColor(i - 1, strip.Color(90, 90, 90));

}

// 3. Second Trailing Pixel (Faint trail decay)

if (i - 2 >= 0 && i - 2 < LED_COUNT) {

strip.setPixelColor(i - 2, strip.Color(20, 20, 20));

}

strip.show();

delay(CHASE_SPEED);

}

// Brief pause with a dark runway before the next pass triggers

delay(500);

}

Help with Elegoo Saturn 4 Ultra

Hi there. Not sure what is happening here. I've had this printer for years but recently the prints have been terrible and I can't figure out what is going on.

  1. It's a new fep, one of the Chitu quick release vats. But the problems were occurring before I made the switch (which I did in part because I had to clean the vat so often!)
  2. No matter how much I clean the vat and make sure the screen is clean, I get these blotches of resin left on the fep.
  3. For the calibration prints I used the profile provided by Siraya tech for the Saturn. They were very close to my standard settings.

Any ideas on what to troubleshoot would be great. Thanks.
