A boomer told me she could cure my autism
So I, 18F, have a Wendy’s near my high school. I’m a senior and have my own car and like to go there before marching band. They have the best nuggets and no one can convince me otherwise.
So I go to Wendy’s and last time I was there, I was talking to the manager. The reason was I heard one of the machines in the back make a noise and I have echolalia and tend to mimic sounds. So I was asking what I was mimicking. (it was the deep fryer if anyone was curious). And that old lady was there. She looked way too old to be working there.
So this time I head there and I order my food. (10 piece nugget meal). And this old lady from last time is there. She looks at me and says. “You’re the girl with Autism, right?” I‘m surprised but kinda flattered she remembered so I say yes I am. Then this lady proceeds to tell me that my autism comes from the metal in vaccines. At this point I’m baffled. But she doubles down and says she can give me a referral to a doctor that can FIX me. I’m holding back laughter at this point and I politely decline. I take my food and head to a booth. I’ve never met an antivaxxer in public before so this was baffling.
i later told my parents about this and they laughed so hard. They said I should’ve trolled her and told her “Yeah my mom took a lot of Tylenol when she was pregnant with me.”
We also have a joke in my family that I am the autism deity. It’s because when we went on a family trip to New York and I did something stupid. I tried to say “Sorry I’m autistic.” And accidentally said “Sorry I am autism.” So now im just the autism deity. And whenever im upset my dad says “Quick! Someone read her a train schedule to appease her!”
So yeah, that was my experience with an antivaxxer woman at a Wendy’s.
