Wagons

I was suddenly struck by the absolute lack of wagon use in this game. The keeper can make all of these things on his own but never thinks to make a wagon for transporting heavy things enmass to his workshop. He made a whole ass elevator....but he can't make a wagon for logs and stone....absolutely wack. I didn't see any mods that made use of wagons either. Which is crazy because the game does make use of them already, just not the Keeper.

What's even up with that? lol

Picking the game back up

I started playing the game again since the second game was announced (though i don't think i'll be getting it after finding out the creator is kind of an LLM chud...) and honestly this game is kind of worse than I remembered it.

I'm not new to slow and obtuse gameplay by any means, this game just leaves a lot to be desired in terms of accessibility features, such as press to complete tasks instead of hold down, better pull indicators for fishing, and a proper quest book.

I'm kind of under the impression now that this game was inspired by the Idea of old games and the notorious lack of hand holding they did while also leaving out the most important aspects of that era of gaming. That being user manuals. These served as the filler you needed to learn how to play the game, better understand what you're supposed to be doing, and also get a lay of important items and where to find them (in some cases.)

I makes me feel like the game is built on that idea. Sort of like, "man games are too soft on people and hold your hand too much these days, let's go back to that." attitude. I kind of see this in the lack of direction, how vague a lot of the quests are and how unhelpful a lot of the one line quest entries are. Maybe the expectation is that you play this pen and paper style but i don't personally find the game engrossing enough to pour that kind of attention and time into, yknow? It's certainly not making your own map and marking where all the traders are in zelda kind of interesting.

I'm playing on switch so i can't exactly mod the game to make it playable...and frankly i don't think i should have to in order to get a decent experience, yknow? It certainly has its moments that i enjoy, though just after a certain point i have to wonder, "what am I actually supposed to be doing? I can catch bugs but they never told me how. Theres no indication i even posses that ability yet even though my skill tree says i can do it."

Personally if I were to...i guess "fix" the game for lack of a better phrase, i'd add a quest book and character profiles that update with the story. Everything takes forever in the game so it'd be nice to have an in game mechanic that updates automatically with the story as you progress. I think there should also be robust tutorial quests for the most important aspects of the game, like alchemy. I'd also like to add a recipe book that keeps track of things you've made or unlocks recipes as you encounter materials. Sure you have things built right into stations but some things require multiple steps to create and it isn't always obvious just how important the things you're collecting are. so you kind of end up either hoarding everything or throwing away things that don't seem that important until you suddenly need a lot of it.

Its a big shame because i want to like the game more than I do. I like the interconnectivity and grindy nature, i just wish it was more clear what needed to be done so i don't have to look things up every few moments when i inevitably get lost.

Freighter base building

Recently i've been reworking my dreadnaught and i was curious, do y'all like to make your freighters with the crew in mind? I mean like making sleeping quarters and places to sit and hang out, stuff like that.

Personally I really like the idea of making a livable space for my crew.
