The Glasson Dock Man

The Glasson Dock Man

Below is the Information I came across concerning a body that was found in 2015. There are various things here which make me think it's not Andrew but theres something about the face shape, the hair etc and the things he was found with that flagged my attention. At the same time they couldn't determine whether he was 30 or 70 and if someone is living on the streets and getting by through any means necessary then the individual may look older than they actually are. Therefore I'm hesitant to believe they knew his age at all. There are various things that do stand out to me; the magnifying glasses, which would suggest he needed glasses but chooses not to wear them (Why?) and then there's the music connection. I highly doubt it's Andrew but I thought it would encourage further discussion. If Andrew did live under the radar then he may have found himself working in incredibly difficult environments, jobs that illegal immigrants would normally work, it would have been a hard life and if anything had happened to him, his death would not have been reported.

At around 10:40am on the 10th of August 2015 the body of a White European male was discovered by a farmer on the salt marshes on the River Lune estuary near to Glasson Dock. Not much more is known about the circumstances surrounding the Glasson dock man’s discovery.

With the Glasson Dock man’s clothing it kind of reminds me of a night security guard and the fact he has a jacket with ‘Northern Profile Security Services’ motif on left chest area it really does give the impression this man was on a security shift. It may not be for Northern Profile Security Services as this may have just been a spare piece of clothing used for the job or maybe the Glasson Dock man worked for the company in the past and was on a new job? He also wore a black pair of “Derri” style boots which I doubt would be great for long travels. He wore an adidas burgundy beanie hat and a chequered shirt in a size small, assuming this fit the Glasson Dock man I would say it’s safe to assume he may be of slim build.

He also had a red and green woollen jumper, I cannot make out the motif on the front of the jumper but if you have any guesses let me know in the comments below.

The Jackets

The Two Jackets seem somewhat appropriate for working close to water or maybe outdoors. The  Northern Profile Security Services motif on one of the jackets are a small lead but not much information on  Northern Profile Security Services is found on companies house. I did find a post relating to this company on webslueths where an individual was searching for the Glasson dock man’s identity.

The Magnifying Glasses

The two magnifying glasses could have been used to see keyholes for the keys the Glasson Dock man had or maybe he had issues seeing smaller writing but did not have glasses? He seemed to have needed more than one just in case, but why is still unknown.

Movie Lover, Music Lover or Both

We know the Glasson dock man also had a plastic card holder containing 2 pieces of card believed to be from ‘Uncut’ magazine with song titles and a list of written film titles on the white reverse. I would be highly interested to know what that list would have been. It would provide extra context to talk about when making appeals for this case. This man does seem somewhat old school and maybe on the older end of the scale of 30 – 70 years old. Maybe he really liked movie sound tracks and had recently been given a list of some good titles or maybe he was out to buy someone these movies or songs for a present.

in a quote from Lancashire Guardian in 2016 DS Simon Ball from Lancaster CID said: “While we do not believe there are any suspicious circumstances to this man’s death, he has not yet been formally identified and we are appealing to the public for their help. If anyone recognises the man’s description or has any information about who he might be I would urge them to get in touch with us. We are keen to identify who this man is so that we can track down any family members and inform them of his death.”

Laid to Rest

Karen Leytham, Cabinet member for environmental health, said: “It is always very sad when officers are called upon to arrange public burials, knowing that a person has died without the comfort of having family and friends to look out for them and help fulfil their final wishes.

“Even so, our officers deal with each case with utmost tact and diplomacy, working with other parties including the mortuary service, landlord or care home to conclude matters efficiently but with dignity.

“It is hoped on this occasion, that a last minute appeal to find anyone who knew the gentleman will see someone come forward on Thursday to pay their last respects.”

A public funeral was arranged for the unidentified man at 9.30am on Thursday, March 3, at Torrisholme Cemetery, Westgate, Morecambe. Representatives from Lancaster City Council were also in attendance.

The Glasson Dock Man – Planet Unidentified

The theory I keep coming back to.

I spent some time going over all of the videos and evidence available to the public. I'm a very logical and objective person and so I'll never have a concrete theory as to what happened, but there seems to be some big things that a lot of people seem to skim over as if they are nothing, whereas, not that I find them strange as such, but certainly interesting and things to consider.

On the day he disappeared Andrews parents didn't know he wasn't even at home until about 7.30 (or at least later on in the evening). His father said they assumed he was over a friends. His father also said that they would often know he was in the house because they would hear him potting balls on the pool table. The father also said that Andrew often used to spend a lot of time over a family friends house.

So you essentially have a young man who is alone a lot of the time. He is quiet, shy, and often exists in the periphery. He was a perfect target for a predator. The unknown here is access to internet or phone, but lets' just say the family and investigation was correct, that he didn't have access to those things.

Many people seem to be fixated on Andrew being lured to London, and I have looked into several possible hypothesis for this. But what I don't see much of is people discussing why Andrew might run away, and run away quickly, without much forethought about preparing for it. It seems that this is a taboo subject, because it puts people into the spotlight, supposedly innocent people, but isn't this exactly what sex offenders do? They behave in certain ways to ensure it's almost impossible to raise the possibility that someone might have been abusing Andrew? We have seen this time and time again and I think it would be foolish to deny that it's a possibility.

I'm also not sure why religion isn't discussed more in this case. It's a huge factor. I keep seeing, people say that Andrews parents seemed lovely, kind etc. But in reality we don't actually know. We know nothing about what his parents or in fact anyone Andrew came into contact with before he left were like, and any assumption that just because people seem nice, means they are, isn't an objective or logical perspective to have. It's well known that predators gravitate to institutions like the church, or scouts or anything that creates an aura of infallibility simply because it's easy to hide in plain sight and victims often stay silent because they doubt they will be believed.

He was also experiencing puberty. He would have crossed over from being a child to that which might attract the attention of a Hebephile.

Then we have the morning of his disappearance. After his father saying goodbye to him at the door there is only one person, known to the family, who saw Andrew before he disappeared.

That individual had a key to the house, had a son who Andrew regularly hung about with and went over, was heavily involved with the case after his disappearance, and most importantly was actually coming over to their house that evening. This is huge, this is a glaring set of coincidences that might mean absolutely nothing, but objectively do seem rather interesting.

One of the most common ways for children to be abused is by family friends, particularly when the child goes over to play with the child or children of the predator. Alternatively, children can be sexually abused by other children, and I haven't seen a single mention of this.

There were sightings of Andrew once he got to London, in the days following. And it appears that he was sleeping rough in parks. This is easily available information.

It's my belief that Andrew ran away from home, I think he intended to simply get out of Doncaster at first, just get away from whatever was affecting him. There wasn't much thought put into it, he panicked, wanted to run away and then when he got to London decided that he didn't want to return. This would fit with the abuser being a family friend or a child of a family friend.

I don't think it can be underestimated the impact that fear has on a child, especially the fear of being believed over a member of the community who is seen as beyond reproach, it's how many famous predators avoided justice. This secret would have torn apart the families lives.

What happened to Andrew once he got to London is another matter and not all of the possibilities here are negative. As well as being some very evil people in this world there are also some good people and if Andrew was honest with them about the reasons for him leaving, there's a possibility that he would have received help. However, I think the most likely answer is he was lost to the city and the possibilities there are various and incredibly dark and disturbing.

I think the person that turned up to the police station and said they had info was either Andrew or someone who was sheltering him. They then had second thoughts and left.

I also think the recent graffiti left in the gents toilets near waterloo might be legitimate and that Andrew left it. It was done deliberately in a high traffic area where it would be very difficult to go through endless hours of CCTV without a known time for the graffiti appearing there. It does raise the possibility of a killer toying with police and the public, but that's another theory entirely.

The only reason this case attracted so much attention is because of his socio economic class and the fact his parents reported him missing. There are many children who run away from home every year and are never put on posters and on missing persons websites. This case is only widely known because of a particular set of circumstances.

I can see the various holes in this argument, but at the same time I keep coming back to it, I've seen a lot of people who ran away posting in the comments sections of videos and many, if not all, can identify with Andrews case and running away from an abuser, close to the family and in a position of power would explain why Andrew never got back in contact.

As with any theory there's simply not enough there to make a concrete theory. But yes, I do think Andrew ran away from home and I do think he survived for at least a short time afterwards. Whether he is still alive now is the big question. I am sure there are many people who would say this is madness, but far stranger things have happened.

Please feel free to challenge me on anything, or add more weight to this, I don't think I am right, I just think this is one theory people seem to shy away from, but it seems to be one where the facts are staring us in the face. Andrews family might very well be lovely, but that doesn't stop Andrew from being abused in his own home or by someone close to the family.

Edit: I understand my theory does not take into consideration the birthday money and the psp charger. If anyone has any suggestions that fit in with this theory then feel free to mention them.
