What are prices like these days?

I'd love to finish transforming our house to full EV now that we have a solid charging setup. Unfortunately the larger EV segment is really just the EV9 / Ioniq 9 and the ID Buzz. Can I ask if prices have dropped down to a normal level these days? In the California market. I simply can't justify $60k on a van that only has 230 miles of range, when an EV9 is significantly cheaper, charges faster, has more range, and is quicker. Or even a Toyota Sienna hybrid is thousands less. $10,000 buys a LOT of extra gas or a lot of kWh...

What am I missing by not using the Aqara app?

For a myriad of reasons, I've ditched all my Ring equipment for my outdoor / doorbell cameras in my home. I much prefer HomeKit like I use for some indoor cameras I have (Eufy 2K).

This week I've installed a G5 Pro and a G400 doorbell. I set both of these up exclusively within HomeKit and they've been working well so far.

I'm a bit sensitive to avoiding opening up cameras to external services, but I am wondering what features I am missing out on by not using Aqara app to customize them further?

For example, I am well aware of HKSV limitation to 1080p, so I will sometimes use the Eufy app to view the streams in full 2K. I assume I am also missing out on some resolution by only viewing these new cameras in HomeKit? (May change in iOS 27 w/ updates...)

I was also very frustrated by the spotlight feature on the G5 Pro, as it constantly cycles on and off at night as it detects "motion" (pixel changes). I understand if I use the Aqara app, I may be able to enable the PIR sensor to better detect motion? I tried someone's shortcut to enable a few second delay but that didn't help.

Is there anything super noteworthy I am missing out on by not using the Aqara app? Are there other folks like me using HomeKit Secure Video exclusively?

Has Caltrans given up?

There is this massive stretch of 580 where the highway lines are missing for three out of the four lanes. It's so bad that my autonomous highway driving system no longer operates in this stretch as it "can't find lanes". This also encourages more people to make sudden lane changes or drift between lanes without signaling.

Has Caltrans given up on repainting this multi-mile stretch? Record gas taxes being raked in only to have the worst roads...
