Direct to SunnyPilot

Has any user jump straight into sunnypilot upon receiving their C4?

Expecting to receive my unit for a 2023 honda accord and considering skipping the OP test/use for SP. Will I be missing out on anything particular?

Taking a quick look at the CommaGuide comparison, Im not really sure OP is even worth trying with SP available.

Excited to test out Comma

Just purchased a C4 for my 2023 Honda Accord non-hybrid.

Mainly want to use for my work commute and start road tripping with my gf. Super excited to test out OpenPilot and try sunnypilot afterwards.

As a new user, is there anything I should know or be aware of?

Resources for OP are the GitHub/Discord and for Sunny is the community forum?

Thanks in advance

Manufacturing or Consulting?

I am facing a dilemma in my career:

Stay at Siemens as automation engineer or move to EPC firm (Jacobs) as an Instrument and controls engineer for Hyperscale data centers.

Siemens is scaling their manufacturing in the states so there is room to grow but Jacobs is giving an extremely competitive offer (\~26% increase in base salary). However, I am concerned regarding consulting firms work culture in comparison and the billable hour culture.

Can anything who has been in both manufacturing and consulting speak to their experience?

Car plug inverter 12v to 110vac - is it killing my battery?

I use this inverter on roadtrips to charge my HP work laptop and sometimes an iPad. Is it draining my battery? Or should I be worried about this these kinds of Amazon inverters?

MEP consulting firm

What’s it’s like being a Instrumentation and Controls engineer for a MEP design firm like Jacobs?

How does it differ from owner/onsite roles?

Controls/I&C Engineers for Data Centers

Hi there,

I was recently offered a role for Instrumentation and Controls Engineer with a Jacobs engineering.

What’s the work like? I’ve only ever been in manufacturing automation/systems integrations (PLCs, SCADA, Collab Robots) so I’m hoping to get a little insight.

Thanks!

Early Career Controls and Automation Engineer seeking advice

Hi there!

I graduated as MechE and immediately started full time as a manufacturing automation/controls engineer with Siemens Energy and Automation for about two years now. I’ve learned a lot and it is a highly regarded company in the automation world but I just got offered an Instrumentation and controls engineer (data centers) role with Jacobs engineering.

I’m not sure what to do here but I do know the benefits are almost the same and my base salary will increase roughly 22%. (Plus a little sign on bonus)

Siemens aligns more with industrial automation and controls while Jacobs more with MEP & Design.

How is the work culture at Jacobs?
What is bill-ability culture? (coming from manufacturing, this is new to me)
How is job security?

Any insight/advice is appreciated!

I&C Engineer at Jacobs Engineering

Hi there,

I was recently offered a I&C engineer role (hyperscale data center) and I would like to know more about Jacobs.

I am a MechE in Controls and Automation so I am usually in r/PLC but there doesn’t seem to be much info vs this sub due to it being more MEP & Design.

Are there any controls or I&C engineers for Jacobs lurking this sub? What’s your role like?

Early Career controls/automation engineer seeking advice

I graduated as MechE and immediately started full time as a manufacturing automation/controls engineer with a large German energy and industrial automation company for about two years now. I’ve learned a lot and it is a highly regarded company but I just got offered a Instrumentation and controls engineer (hyperscale data centers) with a engineering consulting/construction firm but it is a ~20% salary increase.

What should I do here?

2023 Honda Accord non-hybrid

With the independence sale going on I am really considering biting the bullet and purchasing a c4.

However, I drive a 2023 Honda accord LX and am worried the steering torque limit on new Hondas might make it not worthwhile.

Is the steering torque limit a mechanical/physical or software limit? I.e. will a torque mod be available for the 11th gen accords in the future?

Those with a C4 + 11th gen accord, how do you like it?

How is the AppleTV + Stremio combo?

My fire stick is on its last legs.

Thinking about getting a new fire stick or a AppleTV, thoughts?

Edit: got it, no to AppleTV. The question now is, FireStick4k, Onn Box 4k, or GoogleBox?

Edit: Ended up getting a AppleTV! I am already in Apple ecosystem and did not realize there were alternative apps in the official store that function the same - I also don’t mind sideloading stremio!
