It's a goodbye!!!

I finally had my follow-up appointment with my psychiatrist, and we discussed everything I experienced during my 10-week journey on vortioxetine. I took 5 mg for the first two weeks, increased the dose during treatment, and then returned to 5 mg for the final two weeks before stopping.

One of the things I mentioned was that I restarted treatment using a generic version available in my country. Since the first time I took vortioxetine I was using the original brand, we agreed that this might have been one of the factors contributing to the lack of therapeutic response, although it's impossible to know for certain.

I want to thank everyone here for your support, encouragement, and advice throughout these past weeks. Today I took my last dose of vortioxetine, and I'll be going back to a low dose of venlafaxine, a medication that had already started helping me within the first two weeks when I used it before.

To those of you who are still taking vortioxetine, I sincerely hope it works well for you. I know many people benefit greatly from this medication, especially those taking the original brand. Don't lose hope just because it didn't work for me—every person responds differently to antidepressants, and what isn't the right medication for one person may be life-changing for someone else.

I truly wish all of you the very best on your journey toward feeling better.

It's not working!

I started taking 5 mg for two weeks and then increased to 10 mg. I have now been on 10 mg for six weeks. Although my mood may have improved slightly, my sleep has worsened, and I have also developed a feeling of restlessness, anxiety, and irritability.

I have already gotten past the nausea stage, but the truth is that, even when I was more depressed, I could still feel some relief in the afternoon and evening. Now, I no longer experience that sense of relaxation, and I have to rely on lorazepam to help me.

Everyone says I should give it more time, but I have had faster responses with other medications. I have been patient because, in the past, I would usually stop medications that made me feel this bad after about a month.

I understand that decisions about increasing or decreasing the dose should be discussed with my psychiatrist, but I would like to know, based on your experience: when this happens, what do doctors generally do? Do they usually lower the dose?

I also have jaw clenching, facial pain and after I take the pill I feel really depressed for some hours.
