Australian Tourist Arrested at Airport Over Teen Body Found in Suitcase

https://www.instagram.com/asianswithattitudes/p/DaEbGDzzocG/

An Australian man has been arrested at Suvarnabhumi International Airport after police discovered the naked body of a 17-year-old girl stuffed inside a suitcase in Pattaya, Thailand.

The investigation began on 26 June after friends reported Thanchanok Donhomlao missing when she failed to return from entering a local condominium with a foreign national.

CCTV footage captured the foreign man dragging a large black suitcase out of the building on 25 June and transporting it on a motorcycle toward the railway tracks.

Police discovered the discarded suitcase in an overgrown area beside the tracks, confirming it contained the body of the 17-year-old alleged victim who showed signs of severe assault.

The suspect, identified as Mr Simon Peter Carman, a 46-year-old Australian national, was detained while trying to buy a ticket to flee the country.

Officers noted scratch marks on the neck and arms of Mr Carman, who claims the alleged victim disappeared from the room while he was asleep.

The suspect is being transported to the police station for interrogation under a court warrant for taking a minor from parental custody for indecent acts.

An Initiative that aims to get more AAPIs in the boardroom in order to fight back against the bamboo ceiling

TLDR of what this is about: "The Asian American Foundation (TAAF) has launched a $1.5 million initiative aimed at placing more Asian American and Pacific Islander executives in Fortune 500 boardrooms.

Inside the accelerator

TAAF on June 18 unveiled the TAAF Board Accelerator, a program that will vet board-ready AAPI executives and connect them with search firms and corporate decision-makers. A $1 million multi-year grant from the Walter and Shirley Wang Foundation anchors the effort and will fund a new Roundtable Series in the foundation's name, with TAAF adding another $500,000.

Executive data firm Equilar joined as a founding partner and will provide access to its database of senior leaders. "Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders are a vital and growing part of our nation's workforce," said TAAF CEO Norman Chen, "yet too many companies are not tapping into an extraordinary pool of leadership talent.""

Essentially, I bought this article to attention because I believe initiatives such as this will play a big role in terms of positive Asian rep and influence, including for Asian masculinity in general. The main thing that makes certain other communities successful is the fact that they encourage and push each into leadership roles. The more members of your community that are in leadership positions, the higher our status and influence in general, and it is well known that Asians are unfairly pushed aside when it comes to top level leadership roles in the West even if they might be the most qualified candidates. I'm curious to know what this subreddit's thoughts regarding this initiative in particular and how else we can push each other up to become leaders.
