Teach me something I don't know today!

Teach me something I don't know. It can be anything: a strange fact about Malawi, a life hack, a business trick, something you learned at work, a hidden place in Malawi, a money-saving trick, technology, history, relationships, farming, cooking, surviving adult life, or something your grandmother taught you that somehow actually works.

One rule: Give us something that will make someone reading the comments say, “Wait… WHAT? I never knew that!”

Ask questions, add your own knowledge, or challenge it respectfully. Let's turn the comments into the most random Malawian classroom on the internet.

Teach me something.

What is something Malawians pretend is normal, but actually isn't?

Let's be straightforward pang'ono kaye.

What is something we have collectively accepted as “that's just how things are in Malawi” when, if we really think about it, it's actually ridiculous?

Like why we have minibus callboys when pa stage you can get bus yopita kwanu bhobho or its one way obvious traffic bus stop!

Achibale disappearing for three years and returning with “I have a small problem”; or being expected to financially support half the extended family simply because you have a job.

And then there's the terrible customer service being treated as normal, and the famous advice that “if you work hard, you will succeed” while nepotism and connections sometimes seem to have other plans.

So, what have we normalised in Malawi that really shouldn't be normal? No political party wars, no personal attacks. Just honest observations. Let's expose ourselves.

Ine nde awawa ndi ma frustrations with service providers that have taken me for granted for years.

Kapena is it the "warm heart of Africa" biting us??

Those who managed to quit the bottle...

...how do you manage to fully quit alcohol without the constant falling to temptations here and there?

For context, I was a night outs person in the past. Then I evolved to a social drinker. Now i can go four months without drinking. But then I would occasionally take three or four light beers if not four shots maximum basi after those four months.

I can count that I took some in November last year, then pa Easter, and last time was two weeks ago.

But now I want to fully quit... Like go 100% alcohol free forever...

How do people do this?
