Hi, I thought that this reaction might be interesting because of the formation of the unsaturated 6 menbered ring. But my professor said that the reaction wouldn´t go that way. The conditions of the reaction are diethyl malonate and MVK in the presence of sodium ethoxide. I want to know if this is a known or named reaction. My argument was that is more favorable to do the intermolecular substitution because of the formation of the ring and the probability of collision. I also thought of using an mono acyl chloride version instead of using the diester but then I had problems forming the nucleophile.
