Need help finding an old MC version?

When i was much younger I played a very old minecraft version on my dad's computer. I only played a few times, and the only thing I remember from it is that every time I got to play, I would immediately dig straight down, until I reached near bedrock and found a lava lake, which I remember being more like a system of interconnected lava rivers underground that were basically neverending and were not connected to regular cave systems either. I think there might have been creative mode because i wouldn't die from the lava? After finding the lava lakes i would just swim through them until I got bored.

since I was so young I don't remember anything else from the version unfortunately, but I can't find any specific version from the info I remember. If this rings a bell to anyone here i would be really grateful. I do have a suspicion that it might have been a false memory, because I cannot find ANYTHING about those lava lakes. This might have been around 2013-2014

on Medium settings i can get about 200fps but every 5 or so seconds it will stutter and lag really badly for a second. its worse when moving into a new room or moving the camera fast but reducing the graphics to minimum doesnt even reduce the stuttering at all. it also isn't improved by setting an fps cap, or toggling vsync on/off. The base game runs completely fine, and I haven't tested any other mods so not sure if it's an issue exclusive to ultimate edition.

Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.
