Cross post- trainer suggests we use spray bottle technique. I want advice , please

My little dude is just beginning his training journey after a hard start to life. I’ve had him for half a year and want to work on some negative behaviors as well as teach basic manors. The consult I had for a trainer today has me struggling. For negative behaviors they sometimes use a spray bottle to break the behavior. I have never used an aversive technique before-only positive. But he’s my first shib. And one of his issues is aggression (fear based) towards house guests. Obviously that’s a serious issue as he tried to nip someone already and we don’t want a bite! The trainer is suggesting using treats for most behaviors but when we need a correction like aggressive barking, we spray him with lemon juice

Can anyone speak positively toward the spray bottle technique? It’s made me uncomfortable. If your Shiba has anxious aggression, what did you do that helped?

He thought he was gonna ride the center console lid but when I secured him in the backseat, he was pouting hard 😆
