PCOS + Type 2 Diabetes: Why I switched from Tirz to Reta
I wanted to share my peptide journey because I know a lot of us don’t respond the same way to the same compounds.
Background:
• 39F
• Type 2 Diabetes
• PCOS
• Starting Weight: 86 kg
• Current Weight: 74 kg
• Total peptide journey: 11 months
I started with tirzepatide and honestly thought I had found the answer. Unfortunately, even at the lowest dose, I experienced significant GI side effects, constant fatigue, and struggled to increase my dose. After 3 months, I had only lost about 2 kg and felt pretty discouraged.
I transitioned to retatrutide and the difference was night and day for me.
What I’ve noticed on reta:
• Much better energy levels
• Cravings became manageable
• I can still enjoy food without feeling deprived
• Minimal side effects compared to tirz
• More sustainable long-term
I’ve now been on reta for about 8 months and am down to 74 kg.
Beyond weight loss, I feel healthier overall than I have in years.
Current stack:
• Retatrutide
• NAD+ (3x/week) for energy
• GHK-Cu
• SS-31 (cycled)
• MOTS-c
• 5-Amino-1MQ
A quick disclaimer: I have a medical background as a nurse, have spent a lot of time researching peptides, and have attended peptide-focused seminars. I’m not a physician and this is absolutely not medical advice. I also monitor my health closely and get comprehensive labs every 6 months.
One thing I’m particularly happy about is that my labs, which I follow regularly, are currently within normal ranges. For me, that’s a bigger win than the scale.
I’m still working toward my goals, but for the first time in a long time, I feel like I’m moving in the right direction instead of fighting my body every day.
For those who have tried both tirzepatide and retatrutide:
Did you respond dramatically differently to one versus the other?
And for those using adjunct peptides like NAD+, GHK-Cu, MOTS-c, or SS-31, what changes did you notice that you felt were genuinely worth continuing?
