Daily Commute/ Wind AWD 2025

Just moved to Texas and settled in, there’s fricken Tolls everywhere so I have to use the roads guess it ain’t bad to use the roads this is the highest I’ve ever seen for my car I believe

My speed varied but mostly in the 35-50s with a brief couple minutes at 60-70 mph on a 1.5 mile stretch of highway/ my electricity company charges 8 cents a Kilowatt so I gotta make the math but a full battery lasts me the whole week and then some, im liking this electric car more and more as time goes on never going back to ICE vehicles

EV switch?

Hey guys I just recently moved to Texas and bought a home and will need a truck for utility, currently have a Kia ev6 wind awd super awesome car roadtripped with it from San Diego worked flawlessly and is super fast.

I’ve been wondering about what truck to get and this subreddit has really shown me a lot of people on here love their truck and it doesn’t have a ton of issues, I love the look of the lighting it’s seamless and I love my Kia because coming from an ice vehicle it felt like getting a regular vehicle just cheaper fuel and quieter more premium ride.

Some of the things I’m looking for in a EV truck is, solid output for towing but nothing crazy just don’t want to see my mileage drop when I’m loaded or driving with hauling a 2000 pound boat or trailer.

Good infotainment system, I love my Kia infotainment system it’s really seamless and reliable and got me through my 1400 mile roadtrip without a hitch.

Need decent space in the interior but also would like a nice frunk, also want fast acceleration like sub 4 second 0-60 fast

My question is: For current lighting owners what makes the lighting standout instead of getting a Rivian R1T, Hummer EV Truck, or wait for the Slate Truck to come out? The ford is def more cost effective than the Rivian or hummer purchase wise, ive heard a lot of good things and was wondering what made you guys choose the lighting and what keeps solidifying your choice daily, weekly when ever you need it to perform and it does etc

How’s the charging? With a DC adapter is it very compatible with Tesla and all the other charger companies? Does it have good cooled seats? How is the 360 sensors and camera system? How are the systems when it’s towing? Is it reliable during very rainy seasons? Can it handle muddy roads well? Is there any issues with the tailgate or electronics from pushing it through hard work that come out eventually from wear and tear?

Also what trim should I look like that can give me the best comfort, quality and good range with acceleration? I’m not too studied up on ford have always been a toyota, Chevy guy

Sorry if I’m not super well informed and if some stuff feels bland I just want a genuine discussion because I love my EV6 wagon but it’s not a truck and I’d love some insight thank you guys

Call for help

Just got orders to move from San Diego to the east coast, started roadtripping my wife driving our EV9 2026 GT Line AWD with our 4 Month old daughter and 8 year old autistic soon, I’m driving my EV6 Wind AWD 2025 with my Shiba and Cat and we went through the Baja California mountain chain on the 8 without a hitch because of the AWD. First stop to fill up we stop at a Tesla supercharger in el Centro on our Kia EV route, I had some problems with my Kia charge pass but ended up figuring out for my vehicle. Lord and behold the EV9 does not work at all, we keep trying different chargers we did EA and other Tesla locations to no avail. With Tesla it wouldn’t even begin it would just say “Error Charging, check charging station/connection” with EA we would connect it to the adapter it would wind up hit 110-120kw and shut off instantly after it hit that threshold. I took it to a nearby Kia they tested 2 level 2 chargers one 5-9kw that wouldn’t register and then one that charged it at 17kw for a while for free, they asked me to switch out my adapter and when it’s time to go the salesman that helped me pulled the EV9 around and when we got to Yuma we tried charging it and realized they accidentally kept our LVL3 Nacs to CCS adapter. This morning I just bought a new one from the nearest kia for $270 and thankfully I found a blink charging station that is maxing out at 91kw and seems that it’s what it can take for now. Has anyone else ran into this issue? It’s only charging LVL2 and low lvl 3 but definitely nothing above 110-120kw, first roadtrip with it and I got 1100 more miles to go I’m praying she holds up one major city at a time

Also I noticed when it gets higher on the scale since the charger is topping off at 92-93kw right now I hear a loud buzzing from the front like the fan to cool the engine is on overclock mode or something

Edit: Forgot to add the charger that ended up working was a blink fast charger and unfortunately no matter how helpful the Kia service people in el centro or Yuma try to be they don’t know anything about electric vehicles like at all hence how my adapter got claimed by them on accident

Edit #2: CHARGING WORKS! So after it working this morning we tested it at a Tesla station in dateland Arizona and it wouldn’t work with Tesla chargers but when we moved over to the EV Go station it was hitting 200-220kw and holding it till it got to %100 so I’m not sure what happened but I believe yesterday the system intermittently malfunctioned where it wasn’t cooling the battery because I don’t remember hearing it do any sort of humm aside from the Charging station humming/ don’t use DC and it scared the daylights out of me so imma download Tesla and see which are compatible but for now at least we have the adapter to use everything else/ I guess when in doubt let it chill out- hitting a hotel after a frustrating day to this start has been a very positive change

Wind AWD 2025 EV6

This is what my current mileage after charging to 100% once for the month looks like after a week of driving about 6-8 days, I live in SoCal and have warm weather especially right now is this Decent for what the car is supposed to be getting? I don’t remember what the guess o meter told me for full charge what I should get but I think this is alright especially since I use A/C a lot and I’m heavy footed sometimes/ I have switched to sport mode when I’ve felt the need but only a couple times most of the time I’ve been driving in Eco

Any thoughts, shares of personal experiences with your make and model and how it’s different and anyone with the same trim getting higher or lower mileage?

EV9 GT-Line

Let me just start off by saying this is the best car I’ve ever had after getting it for my wife for the month and a half we’ve owned it, it feels premium.

I’m gonna go on a story time and rant about how I went getting it;

I’ve never owned a EV, well we decided to trade in my Wife’s Grand Highlander XLE for the nearest EV9 we saw, monthly payments stayed pretty much the same between the exchange and we haggled for 2 hours just to find out the Light Wind trim we were getting was a Bank Returned car, it had 160 Miles on it and they were trying to sell it to us like new. Personally with that few miles it wasn’t a big deal it was the fact they tried to pull it under our noses at this local dealer that it’s brand new and tried to have me sign without disclosing the fact it was already registered both with Kia connect and registration to someone else that they would have to transfer over. We were furious and left after the Finance guy tried to treat my wife like she was stupid, they told me if we were to get another car on the lot in the exact same trim and color configuration that they had our price would increase, isn’t that ironic? Although they’re both “brand new cars” and few hundreds of dollars different.

So we left furious with my wife disappointed so I then drove 10 miles to another dealer with the offer paper 45 minutes before they closed and instead of the wind we got my wife a GT Line, there was a Black and White seats with a Brown and Black seats which based upon my wife’s impression of it I knew the brown for sure was mesmerizing to her. Needless to say 1 hour later and we were transferring our stuff over with the payment only going up a bit more than originally planned.

After the month and a half of owning the EV9

- It does the job the Highlander did with space and functionality, although may not carry 8 people but still 6 is a good number for our family of four with a baby and our shiba

- Coming from a SUV with only heated leather seats and a panoramic moonroof, having a fully kitted out SUV with better viewing windows, built in window tint for rear passenger a Intercom system into the third row, Heated, Ventilated AND Massaging with Reclining for Relaxation seats, Heated Steering Wheel, better Self Driving with Highway Lane assistance and the Unmatched Blind Spot Monitor Dash Pop Up Camera is insane, not to mention two 2 sunroofs, surround view cameras and sensors and a 0-60 in 4.5 seconds it feels unreal.

- This car has ruined the “Luxury” Brand title, I recently helped my friend haggle for a 2024 i4 EDrive35 and when I tell you I’m happy for him but I would never in my life compare his car with mine I could not imagine, when I drive the EV9 I don’t even care that it’s a Kia because it’s beautiful, seamless, has ambient lighting you can change at your whim, the sound system is awesome and the captains chair seats with the amazing pillow headrest I don’t feel any fatigue driving, between my wife and I using it with our profiles and memory seats and the profile automatically connecting the appropriate linked CarPlay it feels like the most luxurious car I’ve ever had and I will continue to stick with it until I run it to the ground.

- The other day we had to utilize the self drive out of parking due to some Honda CRV parking millimeters away from my door, never needed to use the feature it’s so obscure but the fact that it was there felt and watching the car back out so that would easily get inside while 2 cars waited and watched for us to load up to compete for the parking spot, I Felt like Tony Stark getting ready to put on his first Iron Man suit it was amazing.

Anyways I feel like I could rumble on and on but the car blew me away so much I ended up getting a EV6 for my own daily drive to work alongside the new Family Vehicle. I’ll link that post below so you can see me ramble about that and my experience with that one.

If I missed some cool feature you personally enjoy I’d love to hear about it because I feel like I don’t utilize all the quirks enough.
