Seat cooling

We've recently been having a heat wave in the northeast of the US and it seems as though my seat coolers aren't working as well as they used it. I don't know if anyone else has felt similarly or if it's just too hot here.

I have a 24 wind btw

2024 EV6 - Noise when charging and hot in cabin or when shutting off after driving.

Hi - was in the dealership for this noise last week and shockingly they weren’t able to replicate it. Happens when I’m charging now on a hot day or when I park and turn the car off after driving a distance. Also my AC seems to be blowing hot air times. Thanks in advance!

Western Australia owners - or those who have limited charging in remote areas.

Struggling to get decent charge rates on a first road trip with EV6 2024 Wind/Air. (MY2023)

150kw chargers (if two cars, 75kw each) on the WA EV netoark. Two different chargers, each time, our charging was stuck at 40kw. Meanwhile the Tesla and BYD cars sharing the same charger station were pulling 80-90kw.

Any tips on whether we're doing something wrong? Or we somehow just managed to pick two chargers that were derated or something?

Anyone point me to a 25+ GT?

Looked on many websites and can't seem to find a 2025 GT. Saw some post that said only a handful were sold here? Buddy convinced me to check this out over a Polestar and others and I love the idea, but he said pick the newer models as the range would be more ideal for my daily needs without having to hit a charger.

Appreciate any help!

Thank you

Creating navigation software update USB

Hi, I am creating the USB stick to update my navigation software, however I run Linux so its a bit convoluted, I can run the updater via proton and download the files, but it can't see the USB stick to copy the files on to, can someone verify for me that I just need to copy the folder EV6_MY_22_EU onto the USB stick like the image file structure?

Charging interrupted

Today when I got home I plugged in as always to my Level 2 charger. Maybe 20 mins later I got a notification saying charging interrupted, and my charger also sent me a notification saying charging had ended.

I parked back slightly further than normal to avoid the sap from our Crape Myrtle trees so the cable was tighter than usual. I figured maybe that had something to do with it, so I pulled the car forward and replugged it, then another maybe 20 mins later same thing. Ended up backing the car in so it’s right next to the charger, and just got another charging interrupted message.

Anyone else have this happen?

Some bulletpoints

22 Wind RWD
36k miles
Texas (the actual charging plug into the car was really hot each time I replugged it)
Bought in December so this is my first summer with it
EVIQO Lvl 2 charger. No problems with it up to now.
Running at 40 amp (should I lower this since it’s hot?)

Any help is appreciated.

Roof rack

I would like to hear any thoughts on a roof rack. I want to haul kayaks, less than 50 miles. What's the best solution?

Do any UK peoples here use an EV6 as a Private Hire car?

Curious as to people's thoughts on reliability/longevity of the EV6

OTA Update

So, who received the OTA update recently? This was on my 2023 GT and installed yesterday.

Do we need to be this precise when charging?

Maybe it’s always been like this, and I never notificed? Either way, this could’ve been rounded!

I've owned the EV6 for a month now. I love it, but how did they screw up the driver view this badly?

First pic is my view when I position the wheel where it feels most natural. Somehow, they managed to position it so that basically every useful piece of information is obscured by the wheel, while every meaningless piece of information is easily visible. It couldn't be much less convenient if they tried. I can move the steering wheel higher to a location where it feels less natural so that it only _half_ covers everything up.

Will they ever come out with an update that moves things around? I know the answer is probably no. There is a lot of visible screen, but it's just not used effectively.

July ota update broke evse compatibility?

I'm out of town and on vacation this week. The hotel I'm staying at has a couple of juice box charging stations. Both boxes worked for me 2 days ago, but yesterday I had an OTA update available that I accepted and let the car complete. Since then when I got back to the hotel room, I cannot charge from either juice box. I don't know for certain that the OTA broke my charging ability, but I don't know what else could have happened and I wanted to share in case other people are seeing the same kind of behavior

2023 EV6 GT SOH

I recently picked up a 2023 ev6 GT with 21,000 miles on the clock. It was a 1 owner lease vehicle with only 40 DC charges (only about 8% of total charges) in it's history. It is a bay area, CA car, so moderate climate history.

When I check my SOH in car scanner app it is 93.7%, which I thought seems low compared to all the folks reporting near 99-100% values after 2-3 years and 20-30,000 miles.

I understand there is a KIA "buffer" they put in there, but does this seem about right for the age, charging history, and climate for this pack?

My battery cell deviation reads 0 V, and my maximum cell voltage matches my minimum cell voltage (3.92 V).

It seems to me this is a healthy, normal degradation of the battery pack in a GT model, and that folks reporting 99-100% just doesn't seem possible after years and 10s of thousands of miles. Maybe it is because they are getting readings with that KIA buffer, so they think it is 100%?

On another note, I have the goodyear rangemax tires on mine (dealer had installed them when I bought it) and wow, do I get good range with those. Full charge is around 265 miles (although I only charge to 80%). I commute from the Santa Cruz mountains down into the Santa Cruz and back, and I average about 3.9 to 4.1 m/kHw. There is some loss in grip, but not that much-- little tire spin if launching.

Anyone else underwhelmed by the ventilated seats?

It was one of the things I was most excited for in this car but I feel like they’re not quite as good as I expected. Anyone else feel the same way or am I the only one?

Experiences with car theft and Kia

Hey,

I know others here have had their car stolen. And many more people here are taking additional steps to make it harder to steal — this is absolutely a good idea.

I've written up a personal story, but also used a freedom of information request to the UK's DVLA (the government department in charge of vehicle licensing) to get statistics on the level of theft by each car brand for the last ten years.

Upshot:
- Many more Kia's are being stolen now than ten years ago.
- Other brands have significantly improved their theft rate.
- Kia needs to secure their cars better and make it easier for owners to track a car when it has been stolen.
- Kia US appears to be much much better at helping owners of stolen cars than Kia UK.

Charging issues

New EV6 owner here and new to the EV world. I have a '24 wind. Right now I only have a level 1 cord, level2 charger is getting installed next week. Anyway, when I plug in the level 1 charger and hit charge on the Kia Connect app, it will day it's charging for about 2 minutes, them stop charging. What's going on here? How can I get it to stay in charging mode?

Thanks in advance.

Much Needed Improvements

I don't know if the big wigs in their fancy suits over at Kia are in here but let me help you make this car better. I have a 2022 EV6 GT Line 2. Get rid of the alternating climate/radio controls. It's great in theory and at first I thought it was cool. But I don't know how many times I've touched by accident the auto climate as I go to adjust the volume. Now my climate needs to be readjusted and I still need to fix my audio's volume. I know that there are steering wheel controls for that but sometimes I prefer the knob. That whole panel could be extended downward. There's plenty of empty space available.

Next gripe. The placement of the seat heating and cooling and heated steering wheel. It's so easy for your hand to come into contact with them as you're making adjustments on the forementioned climate/audio controls. At the very least they need to be angled up to make them more visible.

Third is the auto wiper feature. It never seems to be on or off at the right time. It needs to be better calibrated.

Fourth, why is the car leaving the factory with a crappy sounding premium Meridian sound system. Why did I need to get the system in phase? It sounds so much better now. The first owner drove around for four years with a terrible sounding system.

Fifth, why is there no auto locking feature when I walk away from the vehicle. Walking up you have pop out door handles and side mirrors that flip out. So it knows what state to be in when I'm close but not when I'm far? Obviously there's a proximity sensor so why not do the reverse procedure upon departure? I'm so used to this feature that I've forgotten several times to lock up.

Sixth, still on the keyless entry. Why if I pop the rear hatch and load up when I go to get into the car the doors remain locked? Why am I losing the keyless entry feature? Now I have to either touch the door or get out the key fob.

Seventh, in the centre armrest that bucket thing. Why is it so hard to remove. Is there something to hold onto to pull it out? I bought my EV6 used so maybe something is missing. But if this is how it was designed it makes no sense.

That's it for now. Feel free to add on. If there are solutions to some of this let me know. I've only had my car for a couple of months and haven't had a chance to go through the owner's manual yet .
