Low HV Battery warning

I’ve got 2025 LLR for about 6 months now. I charge at home all the time (always be charging) and mostly battery stays above 50%.

On a few longer trips battery has gotten down to 20% or so. Long overnight charge at home back to 80% and life goes on.

Today I’m doing a longer drive on highway (lower efficiency than local driving) and heading home. I’m almost home at 31% and then I get LARGE warning on dash:

HV battery low, charge soon
(Paraphrasing)

I don’t think I’ve ever seen this warning, and I know I’ve had the car under 31% before. I had no route planning on since I was local and knew exactly where I’m going and I’ll be home in minutes.

Does the EV6 ever warn you that HV battery is low? Is there are setting for what threshold % it does this?

Former Needham MA location

The former location in Needham MA was previously a 7-11, and now remodeled as Chase Bank.

Just dreaming I’d run into the band…

I live minutes from Gillette stadium where Raye is opening from Bruno Mars sat 9/5
And sun 9/6. I know both for security and band well Being they often stay in and don’t wander too far. But I keep holding hope that I’d just glimpse Raye and band out and about town…

How long should service take?

About two weeks ago, we started having drivers seatbelt issues with my 2025 EV6. In short with the seatbelt buckled, you’d be driving down the road, and the car would suddenly alert “driver seatbelt unbuckled” when it clearly wasn’t.

Generally speaking it’s a minor nuisance, but we took to dealer about a week later. In the end, working with Kia corporate, they confirmed that the drivers seat buckle switch was not returning correct data to the car and needed to be replaced. I believe this is indeed what the problem was from the start.

But here’s the question: it took dealer (working with Kia) a week to diagnose this. They got car on Thursday and didn’t diagnose problem until following Wednesday. They assured me they were working on it daily, it didn’t sit (or so they say)

Is that excessive?

Are my standards too high?

Prior to my EV6 I was a Honda loyalist. Having owned 8 Hondas over 34 years, I feel confident ins saying if this happened on a Honda, my dealer would’ve had this diagnosed within 1-2 days, at most. Maybe I’m wrong…

To be clear: still love my EV6, and dealer got the fix right. I’m just impatient.

Goodbye FIFA

Goodbye FIFA, hello Gillette Stadium. They can’t remove the signage and temporary fencing fast enough here in Foxboro.

R2 Safety Systems

I've just read R2 Owner's Guide cover-to-cover and can't find anything that

  1. List safety systems (such as emergency braking, front/rear collision detection, rear cross traffic warning, etc), even under the section "Safety"

  2. Settings that allow user to alter behavior of the above. For example, other vehicles I've owned allow you to set the BackUp/Rear Collision Detection to

  • Alert and Brake
  • Alert only
  • Off

My wife has had 2 false positives (not in a Rivian) with Front Collision Detection at highway speeds where vehicle slammed on brakes at 65mph. She was fortunate nobody was right behind her at the time but is leery of these systems to have false positives.

Two people have reported low-speed false positive emergency braking with the R2 and my wife, who loves the R2, is seriously considering passing on it if these don't have driver overrides available.

Montreaux Jass Fest - I Hate The Way I Look Today

Floored. I've seen every festival Raye has performed at (on YouTube, not IRL) for last several years. And while there have been many amazing shows, this year's MJF was next level. I won't spoil any of the surprises for those who haven't watched.

That said, I'm so happy she performed I Hate The Way I Look Today - it's just an amazing jazz tune and fit MJF so freaking well.

Ioniq5Companion app for Apple/ios

IF you have an Apple device and you like to monitor all aspects of your car - battery and otherwise - I think the IONIQ5Companion app is great. Contrary to the name, it works on all EGMP (Kia, Hyundai, Genesis) EVs. While CarScanner2 is a decent app for any vehicle, the IONIQ5Companion is written specifically for our car AND it's CarPlay native, so all output just shows up in your infotainment, not on your small screen.

Random facts: our TPMS also record tire temperature as well as pressure? Who knew?

I'm not selling anything, nor do I make any money from this. Just sharing what I think is a decent app from a person whom I do not know. I hope this post isn't viewed a spam.

The app is $12.99 and worth every penny, and you also have to have an ODB2 reader which can be found on Amazon for like $29. The author does not yet have an Android version, but is looking into it.

Chargeway App vs ABRP

A number of people here have mixed opinions about ABRP, but I haven’t heard feedback from anyone using Chargeway. Any thoughts from those who have used on a road trip?

Wireless charger

I have 2025 LLR and the wireless charger pad is great - the phone generally doesn't move or slide around, the charge continues uninterrupted. That said, the phone gets HOT if you leave it on the charger for a longer ride. This is not unique to my phone, my wife has same experience.

Has anyone else noticed this? Yes, I know that inductive charging with magnets will produce heat. But this has literally shut my phone down (iphone too hot message) and I now cycle it on the charge pad and then off for awhile.
