Getting more context
Hey friends!
So I’d like to share my experience and hear yours, I believe that we all have a lot to gain from sharing our scenarios. For context i had a few when i was a kid, and then from my late 20’s to my current 32 i ve had a handfull yearly perhaps. Now its the first time i had 2 in a week and maybe thats why im writing this.
First I’ll describe my experience, then I’ll address the triggers and then how i deal with the OMs when they happen.
The OMs
So I usually experience 4 phases and i actually created names for them.
The first phase is the the distortion phase, this is when you start noticing something isn’t right. Usually you can identify this phase when looking at faces or letters/numbers, like when you look at a part of someones face and you cant see the whole face or you look at subtitles and you cant read all the words, this is usually when you go like “uh oh”.
Second phase is the visual glitch, it is when you start seeing that famous godamned zigzag, the best way i could describe it is like when you break the screen of your phone, and in that crack you see all colors mixed, get the idea? (Of course you do) this zigzag isnt always literally a zigzag, sometimes is just a straight line. This usually happens in one side of the view and after some minutes starts moving (up down or side) till it leaves your vision.
Third phase is the blackout, in this phase you loose some part of your vision, usual peripheral vision is affected, theres like a blur or as if someone is holding a foggy glass in front of your eyes covering a part of you visual field, by now the visual glitch is mostly gone and the fourth phase is starting.
The fourth phase is the headache, this part is the part im dealing with as i write, it stays for a longer period, this time started on the side of my head and moved up and stayed there.
Now, let’s discuss what i believe the triggers are.
As i said, i had two OMs in the last week, and what i noticed in both cases were the fact that i barely drank any water the two days it happened. I had previously already cataloged lack of sleep as a trigger, and I’ve been trying to maintain a healthy sleep schedule as much as possible, but now I’m adding lack of water to the list. I’ll also start a B-12 supplement i was on in the past and i felt good while taking it, for now this is my go to plan to debug my triggers.
As for how i deal with the situation itself, when possible between the distortion and the glitch phase i try to lay down and close my eyes, by now i know that within 30-40 mins ill be ok, at first was scary as hell but now i try to take it lightly, as something natural that just happens, i get the “uh oh” moment and i act as if i was a computer getting an error, or having to do emergency updates, for instance i was with my wife watching a series (From, great series btw) and i started to notice the characters faces all distorted and im like “uhm im glitching, we might have to pause this” took some time, might ve even napped for 10mins and when i noticed i was in the fourth phase.
Of course im trying to humor the situation a bit, its not pleasant at all, but i believe that if we identify what is going on and try to normalize it for us and the ones around us, it ends up being better for everyone, we dont get the anxiety attack, the ones around us dont panic… and eventually it goes away.
This is just my experience, im from Portugal and this is something that i never heard anyone speak about here, i never went to the ER, but from what ive heard here, id did not help in most cases. All i know about this topic i learned mostly here, and id like to give back by sharing.
Feel free to share if you also usually go through the same phases, or if in the other hand you have others, id like to hear about it.
Sorry for the long post.
Weekly find #01
Viva, pessoal!
Seeking opinions
Hi Dacians!
So I plan on buying a new car soon (baby on the way), and Ive been looking into the Sandero Stepway Extreme ECO-G 120 auto and the Duster Expression ECO-G 120, both hitting the 21k budget. Im not sure which i should go for and so Id like to hear opinions from you. Do you own one of these? Even if you dont, what are your opinions on them?
A sandero stepway with most extras or the duster without some?
The idea is to use it as the multi purpose everyday family car.
Im aware of the technical differences since im constantly comparing them but i guess the numbers dont really translate the feel of each car. How does each of them feel like?
What is something you love about each?
Do you think that it is expected to have a significant difference in consumption due to the weight difference?
Share your thoughts and help me brainstorming!
