History preservation shouldn't turn into hate politics
The architecture of Silchar Railway Station has been making a lot of buzz on social media lately.
The hot topic of discussion is ~ The Dimasa kingdom era architecture has now been "covered" by metal sheet roofing. Dima hasao politicians like Daniel Langthasa was quick to use this for divisive politics. A false propaganda is being spread online, that the metal roof cover has been "installed by bengalis", to "erase dimasa history" from cachar.
It is really sad- certain section of people, may be who dont even belong from barak, are using the topic of preservation of barak's history, to ignite hatred against the bengalis.
Why was the dimasa architecture of Silchar Railway station covered by a metal roof, can only be answered by the Railway Ministry.
If possible, the original historical architecture should be repaired and the metal roof can be removed. But if that is feasible, can only be answered by administration. Has any concerned dimasa social media celebrity officially written to the authorities about the restoration? Or this is just another stunt to divide the people of barak?
The dimasa kingdom fort ruins at khaspur is already a well known tourist place of Cachar.
Also, bengal kingdoms ruled cachar as early as the 7th century (Harikela).
Most barak monuments are in dilapidated condition. Dimasa+bengali should work together in preservation and write to the concerned authorities.
Irony is, official action for the restoration of dimasa architecture of Sil Railway station, was taken by a bengali. Inspite of the hatred against bengalis. Which is totally unjustified and baseless.
Just today, I saw a "concerned" individual claiming- the installation was "illegal". How can a metal roof, installed by the Indian railways be illegal? This unnecessary hatred needs to end.
