Thanks but no thanks

Carvana sold us this rusted, poorly touched up lemon back in May. Our mechanic told us to run away from it. We got an automated text (today) from Carvana letting us know it is available to purchase. No thanks.

Driving from Carvana (after picking it up) I told my wife that something is wrong. I'm not a mechanic but cars shouldn't sound like the engine wanted to escape. Carvana tried to hide copious amounts of rust with a terrible paint job which had white paint all over the black trim. However they missed the inside of the passenger door frame which was rusty.

I'm thankful for their return policy because this $13k car will be a nightmare for an owner to maintain, thankfully that is not us.

Insurance issues

We had a nightmare experience with Carvana that involved two different lemons and us getting dropped from Progressive.

We switched to Progressive and started our Carvana journey. We did not realize there was a policy rule against moving more than one vehicle onto and off the account in the first 60 days. Car number one was delivered and our mechanic said we should return it, we removed it from our policy and replaced it with the second vehicle. That one was in such bad shape Carvana would not sell it to us. In the process that triggered Progressive to drop us and there is nothing they can do to reverse it.

Long story, short. Don't buy from Carvana. Especially true if you have a newish insurance policy. We live in NY but our Progressive rep said other Carvana victims (in other states) have had the same thing happen.

Carvana notification system is broken

For the second time our car is delayed, for the second time we were not notified until close to our pickup time. This morning our appointment was for 8:30am, we were notified of a delay at 8:15am.

We are looking at a 2015 LTZ model for our son's first car. What should we know about the model? Are there red flags we should look for in the test drive?
