So, hear me out.

Bougth a very nice 2020 Honda Odyssey. Looks great, feels great. However, just today noticed there is paint overspray all around the car. Front, side doors, everywhere. Now I know this is a "give it back" situation. BUT --- hear me out --- is there any used car that is perfect? There are no reported accidents on the CarFax. I will definitely return, just wondering if someone decided not to return and found themselves in a "its just what it is" situation.

Experience

Posting only for visibility, going through the conventional and legal channels. Gotta share this here though.

Bought a 2019 F150 for $36K cash, got independent PPI that cleared big issues, brought to a Firestone (the only remotely reputable in-network shop within 30 mi of me) for a new CV joint. They broke the first one they put in so had to do it twice but whatever.

Notice at 10 day of ownership that it doesn't like to go into reverse and bucks at specific MPHs when its still warming up. Put a code reader on it and it says it's only gone 20 mi since DTCs cleared, suggesting that Carvana flashed the trans before they gave it to me. Straight fraudulent behavior but whatever I got a warranty no biggie. Thought they might pull something like this.

Not taking it back to that Firestone for transmission work so bring it to another in-network shop UCS Auto in San Bruno. Told within 2 hrs of dropping it off that it needs a new transmission, no diagnostic details given. Told SilverRock inspector would be out to confirm 2 days later. Guy doesn't show. INspecton moved to another 2 days later. Guy doesn't show. Inspection moved to the following week. After getting on the phone with SIlverRock for hours begging them to come inspect it/ explain why he keeps not showing up, guy shows, get a call from the shop saying they are gonna put in a FORD REMANUFACTURED part with a FORD WARRANTY. I'm like sick that's awesome. Gonna take a week to come in.

Told the shop don't put the thing in until I can pull the serial and manufacture date to make sure it's not covered by this recall: NHTSA campaign 25E070 (Ford equipment recall 25SB3) which has a missing bearing that causes cars to roll away when parked. They said it's not a Ford, can't tell where it's from. I get on the phone with SilverRock for 2 hours trying to get any information on this part. They AS A POLICY won't give out the manufacturer, date of manufacture, company providing the warranty, terms of the warranty, QC metrics / dyne testing NOTHING. Only info I managed to get the shop to give me is it's from Aesop Auto Parts Southwest which has a track record (https://www.bbb.org/us/mo/kansas-city/profile/used-and-rebuilt-auto-parts/aesop-auto-parts-llc-0714-1000060820/complaints) of putting in straight junk yard parts and calling them re-manufactured. Also the transmission shows up without the cooler which states that if the old cooler is re-used they void the warranty.

Silver rock continues to promise that they will get a case manager assigned to me when I call, told this 3 times. Whenever I call back they say 'wow you don't have a case manager, let me get that taken care of right away' straight lies. Will keep y'all posted, but basically the plan is to just take the car to a ford dealer and eat the out of network deductible. Maybe they won't install junk parts?

Shout out Shannon, Joan, Brintey (yeah not Britney), Maria, Antonio, Linda from Carvana/SilverRock for all the help.

Found accident damage a year later

My husband purchased a used 2020 Escalade ESV from Carvana about a year ago. An accident was disclosed, but damages were listed as "unknown." Price was ok, so we moved forward and purchased it, along with the Carvana Premier warranty. Car was delivered, we took care of a few cos6tmetic defects with them, and all has been good. We have made some repairs that have been covered by warranty and it has been a solid car. We recently had the dealership look at the park assist sensors as they were starting to act up. They removed the front bumper and told us that the bumper has been painted over. Behind the bumper, there was a cracked active grill shutter and mount. We were informed this could cause a check engine light down the line. I called Carvana, who told me to call SilverRock (warranty provider), who told me to call Carvana, who once again had me call SilverRock. They told me to have the dealership file a claim, but I'm not too hopeful. What recourse do I have? Carvana touts a 150 point inspection, and they obviously missed a painted bumper and damaged component. 😑

Thanks but no thanks

Carvana sold us this rusted, poorly touched up lemon back in May. Our mechanic told us to run away from it. We got an automated text (today) from Carvana letting us know it is available to purchase. No thanks.

Driving from Carvana (after picking it up) I told my wife that something is wrong. I'm not a mechanic but cars shouldn't sound like the engine wanted to escape. Carvana tried to hide copious amounts of rust with a terrible paint job which had white paint all over the black trim. However they missed the inside of the passenger door frame which was rusty.

I'm thankful for their return policy because this $13k car will be a nightmare for an owner to maintain, thankfully that is not us.

Carvana stole our money

Carvana fully withdrew over $10k from our bank for a trade in transaction that they then initiated a cancellation less than 30 minutes later.

And now they told us it will take 10-15 business days to refund us our money for a transaction they refused to complete?! This is absolutely absurd. Never utilizing them again 🤬

Carvana is a scam.

My husband and I bought a carvana car for $13k and the transmission gave out after one month. I called carvana and begged them several times to make an acception. They danced me around for months. Because I was slighly over the mileage when I put it in the shop and called Carvana, they told me to bug off. Several times. I sent the car to multiple shops that couldn't fix it and then got the call from a third shop that it will be $10k to fix the transmission. Then I got serious. I read over every inch of the contract (after the fact like the young adult idiot that I am). I noticed that my rights to any court proceedings outside of arbitration were waived. Great! The car is too old to qualify for lemon laws in my State and Carvana has "no legal obligation" to help me. I can't roll it into another loan, or trade it in with Carvana because " it's against their policy to offer anything if they can't test drive it". I'm 24, my husband is 23 and we have a one year old baby girl. We're going to end up homeless if we can't figure this out and get my husband to work. Carvana is the biggest car buying scam. They have thousands of OPEN BBB complaints. Their shady business practices are going to cost us everything.

Such a scam.

It’s an absolute scam- I tried selling my car with them at a quote which I had to pay my upside down; when I came down to payment info and hitting continue it transferred me through the entire process all over again and estimated at roughly 4000$ less quote even though nothing has changed. to ensure you don’t catch the details and pay out the extra amount, when you confront them over phone call they will not connect you with upper management and will make up 1000 different excuses and will eventually hang up on you when you call them out on it.

Let it be known i am a very calm and collected person over the phone, no yelling, no arguments. I solely asked them to honor their offer, once I asked that I had them hang up on me.

The offer that was given to me had a 2 day expiration rather than their advertised 7 day.

Also a false statement is that they say they have multiple customer reviews, which are all bots since you are not able to actually put in a review yourself, LOL!!

Stay away as far as possible. Go to different dealerships and get your quotes there!

Buyer beware

Most of my income comes from gig work - Spark, DoorDash, etc. When I contacted Carvana pre-purchase, I was told I would just need to provide three months of bank statements. After attempting to purchase (and after paying the “non-refundable” shipping fee), I was asked for paystubs, and was sent the above message.
