The Glass Is Already Broken — Ajahn Chah

You say, 'Don't break my glass!' But can you prevent something that is breakable from breaking? If it doesn't break now, it will break later. If you don't break it, someone else will. If someone else doesn't, the chicken will! This is the way it is. When I want to use this glass, I just think of it as already broken. Whenever its time is up, it will break. Penetrating the truth of these things in this way, you see that this glass is already broken. Your mind is at peace. If you can see things like this, there will be no sorrow.

Dhamma talk by Ajahn Chah

Seeking peace is like looking for a turtle with a mustache. You won't be able to find it. But when your heart is ready, peace will come looking for you. Do not be attached to the world, to your thoughts, or to your body. See that all things in this world are like leaves falling from a tree. When they have grown old, they drop off. We do not cry when leaves fall, because we understand their nature. It is exactly the same with our lives, our feelings, and our conditions. When you understand this, you do not grasp at anything. You simply look at all things with a peaceful and detached mind.

Dell Laptop Inspiron 15 3520 completely dead at 15 months. Constant BSODs since day one. Motherboard failure?

My 15-month-old Dell laptop suddenly shut down and is now completely dead with no LED charging lights. It has suffered from frequent Blue Screens of Death (BSOD) since day one, which I foolishly blamed on Windows 11. Now it's out of warranty, Dell support is unreachable, and a local repair shop quoted me over £100 for a motherboard replacement.

Full Details:

  • Device Age: 15 months old (purchased new, normal indoor usage, absolutely no physical or liquid damage).
  • The Incident: While using it normally, the laptop suddenly shut down.
  • Current State: Completely dead. When I plug in the official charger, there is no charging LED light at all. No fan noise, no display, no keyboard backlight.
  • History: The laptop has had frequent, random BSODs since the very first week of ownership. I mistakenly thought it was a Windows 11 software instability issue, so I never reached out to Dell during the 1-year warranty window. Now I realize it was likely defective hardware from the start.

What I have tried so far:

  1. Hard Reset / Power Drain: Unplugged the AC adapter, held down the power button for 30–60 seconds, and plugged it back in. Nothing.
  2. Alternative Outlets: Verified the wall outlet works with other devices.

Any advice, troubleshooting steps, or legal tips would be greatly appreciated!
