The Temple: A Brickbuilt Tribute

On this glorious conference weekend, I present to you a repost of sorts.
My COVID-19 lockdown project.

I desire all to receive it.

The Temple. It’s fun AND educational. Build it with your kids for Family Home Evening™ (which may or may not be a thing anymore).

Let your favorite minifigures explore the mythology of Mormonism.

Have them don the ritual garb and prove just how fast they can tie knots with ribbons without letting the sacred envelope™ touch the floor.

Let them prove their knowledge of sacred handshakes and passwords but don’t ever call them that because it’s different. They are tokens™ and names™.

Have them make sacred covenants and maintain secrecy under the threat of death as they pantomime their own death and feel the spirit of the Lord™.

Go 90s style and let them be washed and anointed in a weird combo of insecurity and fear as their naked body is touched under a poncho.

Have them experience the pure joy of a mumbled, chanted group prayer ritual in a circle.

Give your favorite minifigures a reprieve from cleaning the chapel and instead let them squander their Saturday falling asleep to a boring movie they’ve seen a dozen times (or slideshow I guess. I’ve lost track of the current ceremony).

A bookshelf

My shelfie. It’s also kind of a journal of my time in the hobby.

It started with MERP in about ‘90. I had no idea what I was doing or how to play. The GM handed me a character. The GM rolled all the dice, the rest of us didn’t own any. In retrospect I was a terrible player. never knew the rules. Still don’t.

But that opened me up to a whole world. And it shifted into D&D but I wouldn’t own my own books for a while. Then I became a DM in college and got a taste of the best thrills of the hobby.

More recently I’ve expanded into other systems and have seldom gone back to D&D at this point. But it’s still a nostalgia factor for me. But this is the best hobby. Cheers!

[edited a strange copy/paste issue. I compose in Notes then paste to Reddit and that caused some anomalies apparently that made me sound like a monster.]

My Loose Collection (Images from 15 years ago)

This is just a collection of photos I stumbled into today on an old pc. In about 2011, I was working on a project to photograph my collection with that classic Kenner yellow background, but never quite got it to the level I wanted and never finished it.

I have essentially two collections, the ones I played with as a kid that are beat up, and the "collector" versions I hunted down in the 90s - 00s. These images are the latter.
