AI bullying me with artillery (new player)

Hey,

Please I need advice before I ragequit this game I fell in love with. I have about 90h in so I understand the basics. Recently I play only skirmish 4v4 with and against AI (medium or hard).

But I just cant enjoy any game, AI is spamming artillery like crazy and it takes it 1 milisecond to spot my forces in forrest and in 2-3s artillery barrage is coming. So I moved them, same thing they somehow know or see me for a second, rinse and repeat. Its super hard and annoying when I manage only one location, but how the fk do you manage to look at 4 different locations, managing 80 units and not get your infantry completely smashed?

My questions are:

  1. how do you deal with ai artillery? For me, counter battery just DOES NOT WORK, It TRULY feels like AI hits exactly what it aims for, whereas I have 6 155m cannons hammering 1 artillery piece for 6 minutes and for the love of god I cant destroy it, max pinn it. I even brought a deck with 22 artillery pieces and that wasnt enough to country battery. And dont start me on planes, ai has AA everywhere, no plane is getting even near anything.

  2. do you really believe ai doesnt cheat and has only "great" memory? I swear to god, I put 5 infantry units in the middle of forrest where nothing can spot them, look away for 10 seconds, look back and they are all hammered to pieces.

  3. How do I destroy enemy aa or artillery with my own artillery? Sometimes it hits, other times I have 8 art pieces shooting at one gun and cant kill it in 5 minutes.

  4. How do you advance with infantry If ai artillery constantly aims for them for eternity?

Any tips are welcomed, or is there any mod or setting I could use? I really like the game, except this, I HATE IT. No player is able to spot my units at 8 different fronts at the same time and micromanage his artillery like god ai, I dont believe it.

HOW do you kill this indestructible iron demon, mother of all tanks, the dream crusher, god of armor and gunpowder called Matilda?!

Last week I played dynamic campaign as Commonwealth and it was a fun ride, so I thought it will be great idea to play as wehrmacht now. What a mistake it was! On day 2 The fish&chips people brought this iron fortress of a thing against me. At first I was like “haha losers, what a clown tank”, WRONG, completely indestructible, immovable, dont give a fuck beast, took me 20 minutes of blood and sweat just to slay 2 of these CHAD things.

Okay lesson learned, I was not prepared, I will mend my mistakes next time, so I thought. So on day 3 I bought 5cm PAK AT gun, 2cm AT gun I stole from the lads last time + 2 of, now mine, Matilda’s 2mk3. On top of all that, I rushed my research to get 1944 unit of some german mountain hikers with 2 panzerfausts, and I brough 3 squads of them, just in case!

Did not help me one bit, instead of 2, they sent only 1 Matilda my way this time around, as a sign of utmost disrespect. I was shelling that bastard with everything I got from all angles to no avail. It took a combine force of all my AT guns, field gun, 2 of my matilda’s and 2 soldiers with anti-tank grenade+3 soldiers with a fucking PANZERFAUST from 1944 which I shot personally from behind all 3 times.

Finally after 15 minutes, one of the Fausts fausted and Matilda got penetrated. Needless to say, my collection grew by 1 matilda and I shall be unstoppable.

My question is: What in die wunderwaffen is this thing and how do you consistantly kill it If 5cm PAK with Apcr and Panzerfaust is not enough?! And how is it nobody is talking about this godless invention?

How do you handle defense (dynamic campaign), so you dont get overwhelmed?

Hey everyone,

I have about 200h in the game and would consider myself intermediate player, playing only dynamic campaign.

I am doing great on the offense where I push on my time, however from 4th defense mision onward I am super lost and hyper overwhelmed. I usually slow down different strategic games or even pause them to micro manage, but I cant do it here.

I even have a mod to give me 13 minutes to prepare the defense and its not enough!

I tried focusing on 1 point only, which helps a bit but the problem stands. By the 13th minute my defense is about 65-70% done. Then the tanks start rolling in, I might have 4 Ats, and 3 tanks but they just keep piling up until my shit is gone.

One second I manage my artillery, only to look how my tanks are doing and 3/4 of my tanks are gone, same with an at gun and AA.

How do you generally defend? Do you defend in front of point, behind the point? Do you make your AT guns cover a wide range, or a narrow angle only?

I am somehow okay defending open fields, however urban locations are nightmare! Half my guys and guns get stuck on the way, and there is 200 things going on at once. Plus I have no clue what the pathings gonna be.

Moreover, how do you solve enemy planes? Last defend I had, I brought 2 aa vehicles, parked them far behind my frontline only to realize 2 minutes later they are toast.

Jesus how do you manage the 160 units you can take with you, without pausing the game?

How do you set up infantry, should I have them looking from the windows of a building only to get sniped by tanks or arty? Or put them in a street having only tight angles?

How many AT guns do you take? I usually bring 4 and its not enough.

Additionally, does anybody know if there is any mod for slowing down/pausing the game while I can issue orders?

Whats the solution to ai bringing more vehicles than I can manage with AT guns? Do I have to spam mines?

Sorry for the long post, I am frustrated and really cant solve defense especially in urban locations, I always win but at terrible cost.

Edit: On another note, I play as commonwealth and the 25 pounder artillery feels like blatant cheating, when manually used I 100% hit the target exactly where I aim. Its been a year since last time I played, is that normal, or is my game bugged? I remember even good german arty had some radius.

Secondly, why is the SAS unit considered the best? I was kinda disappointed, good stats, but no smokes, no shovels. What do they have that the scottish skirt units dont? (Blackwater unit or something like that) they have same stats, worse weapons but shovels, hp regen, smokes, grenades, can have them since day 1 or 2 and are much cheaper and cost effective. What am I missing?
