Absolute hatred for a conquest map…

The map is literally called Hills and I’m recently playing a hardcore conquest game. I attacked it just fine but they attacked it twice and every time I lose a lot of units due to the enemy being able to get so close due to the hills. I got a defense on this map a third and final time and I couldn’t change it so I cheese my way through it because f this map I hate it. I surrounded two objectives with tank traps and I between my tank traps I placed barbed wire. While it did work I’ve found out new things about conquest.

  1. If the enemy has sappers the AI will blow up tank traps now before they never did this but I’m not complaining I thought it was pretty cool to narrowly watch my cheese strat almost fail.

  2. The AI always knows where your units are. I accidentally locked out some of my engineers from the safety of the objective so I threw them into the opposite corner of the map than their spawn and I proned them in a dug mortar pit.

  3. It appears the AI regardless of difficulty only spawn in waves so if the first wave is never defeated they almost never deploy more units.

With that being said here are some screenshots for proof and memes

Dear Devs: Please add Frontlines and Last Stand to Dynamic Conquest missions!

Theres been lots of talk around here about big DC overhaul coming at some point. But I think easiest, short term way to really shake up the gameplay *in the meantime for DC is with the simple addition of mixing in Frontlines and Last Stand missions.

Defensive missions during conquest in its current form, gets especially boring about mid way or so through the campaign. I don't see the point in having 3 - 5 capture points to defend when theres not downside to letting the AI capture them. This just leads to meta being to concentrate your forces around one or two points to defend. This turns late game DC defensive missions to feel like an easier, watered down version of Last Stand and a bit dull. This is why I stopped purchasing the friendly AI defensive upgrades, because if you do concentrate your forces, the enemy AI will spend the entire match getting distracted by the friendlies - leaving your positions almost entirely uncontested.

Add Frontlines (both offensive/defensive) and Last Stand missions to Dynamic Conquest and make losing points in defensive missions for Conquest actually matter. This would really revitalize the game mode .

Any love for the humble Ampulomet?

I haven't seen a post or anyone commenting on this support unit but in conquest I do find them a steal at only 6 MP and they can kill heavy tanks and infantry. As long as they are concealed or lobbing over a hill they are a great support role attack and defense.

The presence of brittle (low-quality) armor on late-war German tanks.

I was playing a dynamic campaign, and my Tiger II (H) kept getting frontally penetrated. Meanwhile, in similar situations against the same enemies, my angled Tiger I could shrug off the hits. The enemy was using 17-pounders. I found an old article Developer Blog #47 - Armour 2.0 from 2016 mentioning this, but is this actually still a thing in the game?

>Armour Flaws

>As the war progressed, important materials for armour production were rationed which would affect armour quality and penetration resistance. Also unskilled labor and poor quality control contributed to armour quality in certain situations. An example would be, American quality control permitted flawed armor in many tanks prior to October 1943, including Sherman front plates. It is possible the British underwent major quality control improvements around the same time. Many German Panther and Tiger II tanks suffered from medium to large flaws in their armour (especially Panther Glacis) which contributed to lower than expected penetration resistance.
Again, testing still needs to be done to determine which or if any of the armor types and factors will be in the finished game.

Outskirts of Kiev, September 1941

Forward elements start their assault on a village in the outskirts of Kiev around September 1941.

These shots are from my current conquest campaign, which I plan to document like this and make a narrative up to the end.

Vietnam mod is being updated

I'm working on updating the mod I made with Old Boy and some others. Some of the new things I’ve added are real Vietnamese voices for the campaigns, new gameplay (smarter AI, overhauled weapons) and lots more.

I'm also still working on the modding tool, the next update will include an easy to use inventory customizer for soldiers (breeds) and a conquest tree editor. You can check that out here: https://www.patreon.com/cw/GatesofHellUltimateModdingTool and thanks to those who've already joined my squad there :))

New players wanting an in depth understanding of Gates of Hell: Ostfront

I have finished my first video in a multipart series of in depth guides on Gates of Hell! I hope you enjoy and I’m sorry for the length but I describe almost all of my actions on why I’m making the decisions I make. Every following video won’t be as in-depth and will be more focused towards the actual objective. My goal is to allow the player to eventually make their own decisions and understand why I made a choice or see my mistakes without me telling them directly. Hopefully this helps some newer players feel more comfortable and confident while playing!

Is there any way to disable autosave in Conquest?

After a defeat, the forced autosave makes me play the opposite role from the one I had in the previous game. This feature prevents me from trying different strategies on the same map as attacker/defender. I hate this and it ruins the game for me.

Anyone please help .

Multiplayer Smurfing is crazy.

Why is it there are so many people smurfing in this game? I am newer to multiplayer and want to play against people with similar skill levels. Other new accounts join and are god tier with all of their micro game after game. They then proceed to get mad when I close the game early when it is obvious. Why can’t people just play with those of similar skill???

Why friendly AI doens't use vehicles????

I was playing last stand mode, all AIs on Heroic difficulty and I'm getting blasted by the enemy AI coming with Tigers on first round but whyyyyyyy friendly AI doesn't pick any vehicle???? Increase difficulty it's just to make my allies dumber? We can see in the minimap, I had 2 tanks, others died but AI are trying to stop enemy vehicles with rifles? This is sooooo annoying

Hi everyone!

I was wondering if there are any mods or custom maps similar in concept to those in Men of War: Assault Squad 2, where you have to gradually capture points while calling in reinforcements
