After suffering horribly in offline skirmish I was frazzled. Also I did play an attack as Russia in conquest and still had such a hard time controlling everything. But I watched a General Shiba video that had a strong build, I was still over complicating my control groups in the attack but in the defense I had so many units all doing their thing. Started off with 3 engineers and 3 tank miners and towing 3 artillery including a really cool mortar one that I stole from the attack, built trenches, tons of mines, tank trenches, had everything firing on all cylinders. It was a glorious bloodbath and I only lost like 4 guys, people were running out of ammo. It felt soo cool
I don't even think I had hotkeys something just clicked where I was able to read the matrix of the unit groups on the left side of the screen and just by clicking on those I was able to manage 2 full army stacks smoothly.
I'm still learning how to do things in this game; in the last mission I discovered that I have to manually resupply my units XD
Is there any GoH Halo mod in development? I saw that CTA has one but I dont own it nor do I want to really get it either. I really want a halo mod in GoH especailly since we already have a TF2 mod as well.
Hi, I like RTS but not complicated ones because I suck. I struggle on Company of Heroes 2 and I'm ok on AoE IV/AoM
I'm really drawn to the possibility of playing a unit in third person.
Can the AI be the commander ? And leave me to just select units and play as them ? If not does playing a unit cost you precious micro/macro time on the RTS gameplay ?
Also it says "partial controller support ?". Is it good ?
EDIT : Thank y'all so much for the honest replies, I followed a suggestion that drove me to Easy Red 2 and I love it ! Might still end up buying this one on sale one day ! Cheers !
I recently brought Gates of Hell Ostfront and am current looking for mods to help enchance the games experiance, so any suggestions is welcomed.
I am trying to find a decent first person mod, does anyone know of a working first person mod that allows me to zoom in further than just over the shoulder?
I did try Better First Person View V1.6, but this appears to allow me to go just above the shoulder.

I'm extremely new and I am looking for an early age heavy art that can shoot accurately in an arch. I have only played soviet skirmish on custom easy settings and havent found it yet by experimenting, but I did steal a German 15cm sIG and its exactly what I'm looking for.
I guess he wanted to protect his legs.
hey guys im new and im confused about the difference of the vehicle and troop movement
troop double right click = aggressive movement and if neccesary they move.
tanks not they stand more like still (my sdkfz didnt even turn to shoot back that retard even if i double clicket the enemy soldier i needed to turn it manually)
and troops can be split on an close area with holding the right mb and drag .
tank groups dont do this right?
and why i can not hold theright mb and drag that the hull turns in this direction at the end (only the tower)
hey guys, i wanna ask you who can build normal foxholes? everybody with an shove ?
how do i know in the dynamic campaign mode if the sqad or parts of it have this opirtunity?
Defending is fairly easy compared to going on the offensive for me. Most of the time I capture around half the points and then end up stuck in some Guerilla stalemate where all my tanks get blasted by AT units and i can’t push because the following point is way to heavily defended to only Push it with infantry. Are there any tricks or strategies to break through faster and most important of all better and „cleaner“?
For some time now, while playing this game in Conquest mode, I have noticed a certain behavior on the part of the AI opponent when it comes to selecting targets for bombing.
Especially since I'm playing on mod: Hortens frontline
I am looking for a solution and possible alternatives for placing fortifications and anti-aircraft units. Since I play on a hard economy mode, I cannot afford to place anti-aircraft systems on the entire front line.
Returning to the thesis. Does the AI only target the highest-cost unit? Or the highest-cost units within the bomb's range?
I'm trying to understand how this works, but so far I've noticed that the AI tries to chase my tanks even when they're moving, with the goal of destroying them. Sometimes it locks on to the unit with the highest experience if the unit isn't within the range of anti-aircraft systems.
Have you also noticed similar behavior or is there a specific set of behaviors for AI air raids?
Many times I buy an unit and give the command to go to a position and then focus on something else until the unit gets there. fine, a few minutes later I check and the unit isn't there, or it's going to a super hard place destroying concrete and trees (making it even more slow) or stuck in a bridge (the Frontlines map from Finest Hour). So, there's a mod or solution to improve AI's pathfinding or it's something we just have to deal with it?
*image above as example.
Is the shockwave and the muzzle flash modded? I don't think I've ever seen it look so strong and visible in the game. (if i remeber, this GIF is from Horten Frontline page)
German 2nd SS Panzer division units strike US forces at Mortain; breaking through the main defensive lines and pushing further out, before the infamous Allied counterattack that pushed German units into the Falaise Pocket.* *
Initially, the 2nd SS panzers caused considerable casualties to US forces defending the area at Mortain. Using tigers and panthers, in addition to heavy artillery support.
Especially little things like the universal carriers. I don't get the point of the Universal Carrier sections being one unit when they don't move as one unit. they all just glob onto the same single point.
Is this something that's even possible with GEM? I know it's an old engine, but if infantry can move in spaced formation without much issue, why can't a group of vehicles do the same? Adding on to that, whats the point of grouping infantry/vehicles together if they can't move in some sort of unit? They all just glob individually again.
It usually works but I also usually lose a lot of men in the process. It seems like this game really heavily prefers manual control of vehicles over infantry strategy, primarily because it seems like infantry strategy requires a lot of micro, which is hard to pull off when a mortar can delete half a squad in one hit, plus ai controlled tanks don’t seem to understand that anti tank emplacements should be priority #1 so if I don’t micro them with direct control they get killed by a distant emplacement.
I managed to beat the first German mission with fog of war off but that also lets me call in a fuckton of backup tanks and infantry so preserving my forces wasn’t very important since I could just truck in 2 more infantry squads.
