Council is trying to cut EMS salaries to preserve our integrated system

I got this in an email from the city earlier - seems like the next play from council is to convince us that it's actually the greedy firefighters at fault here, and we definitely shouldn't blame the UCP or their spineless toadies on council.

It looks like the EMS union had already agreed to a new division that would result in pay cuts over time through attrition (again due to pressure from the province) but that wasn't quick enough for the UCP - well paid government workers delivering world class service doesn't jive with their "everyone must suffer for the good of our donors" mentality I guess.

I fully recognize the city doesn't have a lot of power here. Municipal governments are completely at the mercy of the provincial government - but other municipal politicians are getting loud about it, and making sure it's very clear where the blame lies. That's what I expect from ours - not them spending their days on their hands and knees polishing Danielle Smith's boot.

Statement from Mayor Hyggen on the Integrated EMS Vote

A few councilors along with the Mayor Hyggen have posted very similar statements to this, and at least to my reading they seem deliberately vague. They keep referring to some nebulous additional option - it's unclear what they expect that to be, whether it's privatizing the service or hoping the UCP governments decides to change course.

I also laughed at "I do not believe we should ever put a dollar figure on a human life." That's exactly what you're doing Mr. Mayor. And fair enough - as much as people like to say stuff like that, we put a dollar figure on human life all the time whether that's designing a road for speed over safety, deciding how much to spend on healthcare, or drafting environmental regulation. Most of politics is deciding how much it's worth spending to improve or save lives.

What is the best way to connect these two bodies by filling in the are between the top of the arch and the bottom of the button?

I'm trying to create an object that will let me snap a button on to a piece of PVC pipe - I have tested the two separate STL objects and both work as intended so I'm attempting to combine them into a single body. I've tried a few things using the revolve and extrude tool, but I wasn't able to get the desired result (which is basically filling in the area between the objects as shown in the red lines in the 2nd photo).

Any suggestions here? My best guess is that I want to create an axis along those red lines and then do some sort of revolve around the base of the button that only fills in to the surface of the clamp, but I'm not sure if that's achievable or even makes sense.

I noticed there's no discussion here about a fairly consequential vote coming up this afternoon on the future of emergency services in Lethbridge. Basically another episode in the UCPs war against anyone who lives in a city.

Hey all,

For the last day or two my browser behavior has changed - previously when I typed "r" in the address bar, it would complete to "reddit.com", now it's going to "radisson hotels" which I've searched in the past, but certainly not regularly. Instead of facebook I get fastmail, and other regular sites disappeared entirely.

The top sites widget on my Start Page has the same effect - some of those common pages are no longer listed.

Any thoughts on what happened or how to fix it? I've checked my history to see if I accidentally cleared it but it looks fine, and I'm on the latest version of Vivaldi (7.9.3970.60) on Windows 11 Version 25H2 (Build 26200.8246). I haven't (deliberately at least) made any settings changes recently.
