Akai MPK Mini IV vs Arturia MiniLab 3

I'm trying to decide between the Akai MPK Mini IV and the Arturia MiniLab 3, and where I live they're only about €10 apart new.

For context, I already have an M-Audio Keystation 61 with semi-weighted keys, so I'm covered if I actually need to play piano. I'm mainly a guitar player, so piano isn't a huge part of what I do.

I use Reaper, and I'd mostly use the mini controller for synths, drums/beats, Superior Drummer 3, arpeggiators, pads, and some basic DAW control. I already have plenty of VSTs, so the included software isn't really a factor.

I actually owned an Akai Mini MK2 years ago, and I remember it feeling pretty cheap overall, especially the keys. That's probably my biggest hesitation with going back to Akai, although obviously the MPK Mini IV is a much newer generation.

I've watched quite a few comparisons, but I'm still struggling to decide.

The Akai is more appealing to me for the pads/drum side of things, and honestly I love the design. It has this ridiculously cool Nintendo-ish vibe.

The MiniLab 3 looks a bit cleaner and more professional, though, and I've heard quite a few people say the keys feel better. The extra knobs and faders also seem like they could be really useful for what I want to do.

Since I already have a full-size keyboard, key feel isn't necessarily my #1 priority, but I still don't want something that feels cheap or unpleasant to use.

So, given my use case, which one would you guys go for?

I'd especially love to hear from anyone who's actually used both, and particularly anyone using either one with Reaper.

With only a €10 difference new, I don't really see much point in buying used either, since the savings would be pretty minimal.

Gestione yogurt greco

Voi come gesiste lo sbrodo che c'è all'interno delle confezioni da 1kg di yogurt greco? Lo scolate o frullate tutto? O lo tracannate come animali selvaggi?

Best Regards

LR Baggs Anthem SL Volume

Okay, so I installed an Anthem SL in my Yamaha LL16. This thing has a very low output, even with the volume at full. Is it normal?

If I plug it into a Focusrite 6i6 (instrument input) with the preamp at zero, I barely reach -20 dB output (-16 with hard strumming)

Is it normal, or is the unit faulty? I got it as B-stock from Thomann, but it looked like new.

The battery is brand new, the cable is good, and the mic level is at about 70%.

Small Guitar for Delta/Country Blues

I'm looking for a small-bodied guitar for Delta/Country blues, with and without slide.

Budget: under 400 used.

I'm currently considering:

Guild P-240

Alvarez Delta00

Alvarez Blues 51

Gretsch Jim Dandy

Framus FP14

Sigma LM-SGE+

Any other recommendations?

I don't care about pickups, I'm just looking for the best bang for the buck in terms of tone and playability.

Which one would you pick, and why?

Should I send the K&K Pure Mini back?

I spent some days searching for the “best” pickup I could get for a fair price, and ultimately ordered a K&K Pure Mini. It should arrive tomorrow, but I’m thinking of sending it back before even opening it.

To be honest, I’ve already had one in the past and didn’t like it much, even when plugged into its Pure Preamp, too many low mids and not enough air in the highs. Sometimes it even sounded a bit quacky when digging in. It was a bit unbalanced too between the strings.

The guitar is a Yamaha LL16, which sounds pretty good unplugged. Now I’ve found a B-stock Anthem SL at double the price of the K&K, but I’m quite tempted.

Samples vary a lot, but the LR seems a bit less congested. I play both strumming and fingerpicking.

What do you say?

LR Baggs HiFi vs K&K Pure Mini

I have a 2025 Yamaha LL16, which is already pretty decent acoustically, and I’m looking to improve its plugged-in tone (its passive piezo is quite awful).

I’m undecided between the K&K Pure Mini (which I previously had installed in an Eastman E01OM, but found a bit too boomy and mid-heavy) and the LR Baggs HiFi.

For context, I already have a K&K Pure Mini preamp clone, and I usually run into my regular pedalboard, which includes various pedals plus an IK Tonex as the core of the setup.

From the demos and samples I’ve found online, the LR Baggs sounds more natural to me than the K&K, but I’d love to hear your impressions.

Which one would you recommend and why?

I’m mainly looking for a balanced, natural tone.

Need a replacement for Huawei Free Buds Pro

My Huawei FreeBuds Pro have been going strong since 2021, but the right earbud developed a noise issue that's recently become so bad it's basically unusable.

I'm a musician, so even if I'd use them for casual/daily listening, sound quality is a top priority for me. ANC matters too, although I probably use Transparency/Awareness Mode more often. I'd mainly use them for music, podcasts, and calls, both at home and at the gym.

I was looking at the Huawei FreeBuds Pro 5, currently bundled with a Band 11 for €161 after discounts. Before pulling the trigger, though, I wanted to check if there are better options around that price or similarly good alternatives for less.

What would you recommend? Thanks!
