austin highrise apartments reviews

question about highrise downtown apartments

hi,

i have been looking for decent highrise apartments for weeks, and everything just seems such a pain. I am working with a realtor but I want to get thoughts of people who currently live or have lived at these apartments.

some context: 31M, working in tech, lived in dallas and chicago and moving to austin. i work from home and leave apartment only for gym or on weekends.

what I want ideally: 1000+ sqft, 2 bedroom or 1 bedroom with a den, ideally 15th floor or above, floor to ceiling windows are a huge plus, and a downtown facing unit preferably. i would rarely use apartment gym but a clubhouse/sky lounge is good. ideally either in downtown or rainey st. budget is $4.5-4.6k in total.

i have looked at most of the apartments: windsor on the lake, hanover (the staff is weirdly rude or has the attitude of "we dont want you"), atx tower, quincy, ashton, northshore, whitley, 700 river, 70rainey, and a few more.

what i definitely realized is that not every place is perfect and every place has it's own shortcoming or extraordinarily out of range ($6k+).

what are some reviews or thoughts about these:

\- quincy atx

\- 700 river

\- 70 rainey

\- whitley

\- windsor on the lake

any small reviews would work as i couldnt find a lot on google/reddit

H1B appointment confusion

hi,

need some h1b appointment questions answered

context:

I got into 2025 lottery. paid for the receipt on June 14th, 2025.

bio and interview scheduled on 28th december and 6th January (interview), 2025.

I didnt travel to India and on 24th got notified that my bio and interview have been pushed to 26th and 27th August 2026 by US embassy due to social media rule changed.

now, we are close to june 14th and interview in august.

questions:

  1. do I need to pay for the MRV receipt again since it's been 12 months? or is it okay given US embassy rescheduled it? or that appointment was set later?

  2. I am okay with paying receipt fee again, but if I pay, will I need to reschedule the appointment date or change my appointment date or can I keep August?

has anyone been in this situation? thanks.

heyy,

i wanted to know if anyone has been in similar situation as me.

i am currently on 60day grace period for my h1b. my last day will he May 16th. I got an offer from a new employer, legal company, no staffing/consulting. I have exactly 2 weeks left.

if the legal team files for my LCA and start my h1b transfer petition for new job, do i have hopes to get it filed before may 16th? i have already talked with the team and they said they will help and expedite it. but the biggest time sink is LCA which takes 7 days.

has anyone been in this situation??

thanks

Currently on a 60day grace period and looking for some clarity:

  1. If I leave US before 60days, find another employer and they file h1b petition, does it trigger 100k fee? technically I am already cap-exempt since I have/had h1b and shouldn't be paying it? but not sure what happens if I leave once?

  2. can a staffing company file h1b petition for me while I look for other companies and then company C files for me and eventually I move there? kind of tricky

  3. what's the best move currently? b1/b2? day1 cpt? or anything else? have been reading posts that b1/b2 is under heavy scrutiny.
