Need card/fob entry for a community radio station

I work for a community radio station that's had VERY loose security over the years. Just a single mechanical code entry with a code that's been given out like candy and hasn't been changed in years, if not decades. Problem with changing it is that our nighttime/weekend volunteers never read their emails, so they wouldn't know the code was changed until they show up for their show. None of us want a call at 2am saying they can't get in.

So we're starting to investigate card/fob entry, but I'm starting from scratch with 0 experience. Ideal wishlist below:

  • simple software administration - ideally capable of remote management, but not required

  • no subscription fees - hope to pay for just initial purchase/setup cost and card/fob inventory

  • ability to tie card/fob to individuals

  • queryable report of which cards accessed and when

  • maintain access through power outages (thankfully those are rare)

  • easy/quick deactivation

I'm sure I'm asking for a unicorn here, but any info you all can give is appreciated!

A buddy moved away and gave me the remnants of his last upgrade. Wanting to run a jellyfin/plex server, but having a hard time checking compatibility due to the old motherboard.

What I have is an MSI Z270-A Pro, 2 sticks of 8gb DDR4, an intel i7 (not sure which), and a CPU cooler (also not sure beyond CoolerMaster branding). I have a Samsung 1tb NVMe SSD to run the OS/server from and an 18tb easystore HDD for media.

Not planning on putting in a gpu, but could be convinced to get a cheap one if folks think it's worth it. It won't be connected to a monitor unless necessary after setup.

Looking for recommendations for

A) a barebones, no frills case with fans (I think that mb supports 6?)

B) a power supply - was looking at lower power ones but the price difference compared to a 750w is negligible

Any advice is appreciated!
