Matt Johnson goes metal detecting!
Idk if Adam would be interested in watching this on stream, but I thought it might make for a fun highlight!

Hey!
I'm Boots Riley- writer/director of I Love Boosters.
The NRG surveys tell us that awareness of this movie's mere existence, overall, is low. Neon did spend on marketing, but a lot of it was internet and streaming ads, which are a problem for me in particular as I've been historically muted on social media platforms and with this movie in particular, people have shown me cases where Meta has said that they weren't allowing reposts to be seen as widely because it was connected to "organized criminal activity".
I'm asking for your help at this late date. If you've seen this movie and like it- let patrons of your theater know. If people seem to be unsure of what to see, and you like my movie- let them know about it.
These facts may help:
We have 92% on Rotten Tomatoes from critics and 75% on Rotten Tomatoes from the audience. We have 3.8 on Letterboxd and a B Cinema Score (given by the audience).
So people like the movie when they see it. Most people who are fans of me, or of Sorry to Bother You, or Keke Palmer, or Lakeith Stanfield, or Demi Moore- don't know about this movie. If you're a cinefile and follow this stuff you do and it may seem like folks know. It's a problem.
Many areas are having packed audiences, but in others its a struggle. I think this movie is one of the antidotes to the boring stuff that big studios push. Sure- Obsession and Backrooms are great, but since they are in the horror genre, big studios will look at that as being the exception that they've always set aside for horror and keep doing everything else the same.
I think this film has things in it that no one has ever seen before and will inspire a lot of filmmakers. It's hopeful and about the future we can create together.
This film won't "blow up" at this point, but I can get Neon to hold back digital and we can run this like a slow roll out over the summer and just tread through all the big releases while moving steadily.
Thanks for your time. And while i never worked at a theater, I worked at Bott's Ice Cream across from Rialto's Elmwood Theater and I would hook up everybody that worked there with free ice cream everyday.
Any chance of there being a watch-along?
