Hello !

I am moving all my stuff and wanted to know if there’s anything interesting I should check out. My car is rented from 10 am on a Monday until 7:30 pm on a Thursday in mid October so not super rushed, which is nice. I was planning on doing a full day in Marfa, going to the Donald Judd compound and for a swim in Balmorhea Springs.

Anything I should check out for sure? I like abandoned exploration, as well as nature hikes, maybe something a tiny bit off the beaten path ? :D

Was thinking of staying in Tucson night 1 then Tucson to Marfa? Is it okay to leave my belongings in the car?

My roommate left me his car while he’s out of town. I drove it about two years ago and at that time he told me he drove a diesel car. This time he let me drive it around and I completely forgot that wrinkle. So I filled it up from basically E to completely full. $75 worth in LA. I drove home roughly a mile, mostly downhill with some uphill, completely fine. Then this morning I tried multiple times to get it started and it wouldn’t. He’d told me before he left that it may need an oil change so I assumed it had something to do with that. Only afterwards when I talked to him and he mentioned in passing “diesel cars” did I realize. Have been reading some stuff online and it seems very doomer and pessimistic. How bad is it really, would you guess. It’s Mother’s Day and all the shops are closed so this has been weighing on my mind all day.
