Academy prep (PPLE)

Just passed the physical fitness test for the state agency I’ve been working toward joining. My 1.5-mile run wasn’t great, but I did much better on the 4-minute row. (The two exercises that we were tested on)

Assuming everything goes well, the academy starts on January 4th. The recruiters told us to stay in shape because we’ll be tested again before the academy to see if we’ve improved. They also said we won’t only be tested on the 1.5-mile run and 4-minute row—we’ll also be tested on a 500 m row and a 2000 m row.

I’ve been reading Tactical Barbell and was planning to continue PPLE until the academy. One of KB’s recommendations is to continue with Block 1 and then switch to Block 2 about 8–9 weeks before your event to become more specific.

My question is: since rowing is a significant part of the academy testing, would you start incorporating rowing sessions during Block 2, or would you just follow the program exactly as written? My thought is that the strength and conditioning in both blocks should carry over well, but rowing seems specific enough that it might be worth adding as the academy gets closer. Also, I've heard from current LEs that the academy consisted of a good amount of rowing. But I'm sure maybe just practicing on my rowing form before the academy should be more than enough.

For those of you who’ve run PPLE or prepared for a law enforcement academy, what worked best for your academy?

Newbie baby

I'm genuinely curious: do y'all run on yalls routes? I'm still new, and I notice many other drivers having a shit ton of totes or OV. I just look at everything they have and think, “damn, they must be running AND working on their breaks and meals cause there's just no way (this is a little bit before prime week btw). I walk on my routes and I refuse to run or jog for a job like this. I've been called sometimes to speed up my route, but I feel as if they want me to run or drive 17 over the speed limit. I feel like they call me too frequently because I'm too slow. And so far, I've been saved because I genuinely had a hard time with a bunch of closed roads and detours; luckily, my DSP was understanding and sent me help. The other time, my feet had a lot of blisters. Yet again, all the stops could be close together which explains the horrendous amount of totes and OV. I feel like I'm organized but maybe too oraginized to the point where I waste time lol. Any tips on moving faster and quicker while not jogging or sprinting like the other people at my DSP🤦‍♂️🤣

Best foot wear

Just recently started delivering and it's been going great. I got these keen boots that I got off zappos, maybe might not have been the best fit for my feet. I already developed corns in between the little pinkie and the second outer pinky toe. I also have some pain on the back of my heel funny enough but I've just been wrapping it up before work and I've had no pain so far. Do y'all have any recommendations on boots with a wider toe box as well as good ankle support? I heard socks are just as important. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Having issues with the output audio with my ps5. I have never run into this issue until now. The audio output will be perfectly fine with my PC but fail the PS5. I hear no audio output whatsoever. I recently updated them so I don't think that's the issue, considering they were working just fine a couple days ago with the new update. I also checked my monitor settings to see the audio percentage. It was at zero, I then increased to 100% just to come to the conclusion that it wasn't the issue. Can anyone help lol?
