My current retro-inspired battlestation

Hi! About a year ago, I put together a retro-futuristic computer setup that everyone here really liked. Inspired by the warm feedback from everyone who left positive comments, I decided to keep going and create an even better computer setup this time (since I now have a 3D printer). That terminal-looking thing on the right is a custom build I made.

This time, I have a video of the entire creation process ready to go, so no one can accuse me of using AI anymore, haha

Since you can't post more than one photo here, here's my post in the “Cassette Futurism” community with more photos

I hope you enjoy it :-)

My very first 3D printing and Blender project! Spent 2 months building this custom "Cassette Futurism" vertical monitor station.

Hi everyone! I recently got my first 3D printer and decided to dive straight into the deep end. This is my first ever project both in 3D printing and 3D modeling (learned Blender from scratch for this).

Meet the Tall Tower Unit - a secondary vertical monitor inspired by 80s industrial computer gear in the "cassette futurism" style.

Some build detail:
-Designed completely by hand in Blender. Printed the entire shell in PETGfor better heat resistance since it houses a working monitor.

-To keep it sturdy and lightweight, I built an internal frame from wooden beams, using 3D-printed corner brackets and a custom movable VESA mount to slide the monitor in.

**-**Spent weeks on automotive putty, endless sanding, priming, and more sanding to completely get rid of the layer lines.

-Finished with RAL7035 industrial gray paint. Technical markings were applied via water slide decals using the Helvetica font

It was a massive learning curve with lots of trial and error (and fixing some warped parts with a soldering iron), but I'm incredibly proud of how it turned out.

If you'd like to see the complete step-by-step creation process, the post-processing stages, and a cinematic presentation, I've put together a video that you can watch here:https://youtu.be/jgIrPUFqgng?si=M8GoTe_JbaqtN_Za

I’d love to hear your feedback!

I built a vertical monitor station in the “cassette futurism” style for my setup. Project Name: Tall Tower Unit (TTU-01)

I’ve done a similar project before, but back then I didn’t have a 3D printer, so the entire outer casing was made of plywood, which I had to make look like plastic. Now that I have a 3D printer, I decided it was time to revive this project, rethink it, and give it another try using the experience and knowledge I gained last time.

I hope you like it!

Here’s a video showing the entire creation process, so no one can accuse me of using AI again :-)

The video also explains all the details of the project (what it’s made of and exactly how it was made).
